Well heres my issue. My current card is an eVGA GeForce 9800GT 512mb & I have recently updated the driver because I thought that my issue was a possible driver issue, but that doesnt seem to be the solution. My problem is when I leave my computer on for days @ a time, I will want to play a game that requires a video card. However, after a few days of my system being on, the graphics get reduced to 5 fps. It was the exact same deal with my previous driver, so its obviously not a driver issue. I personally never had this issue w/ my previous video card (7600 GT). Heres the specs on my computer:

C2D E6750 @ 3.0Ghz
3.5 GB DDR2 800
plenty of hard drive space

Any ideas or suggestions?

Maybe it's not the vid card...maybe something you've installed since your last card...

what does task manager show for your mem/cpu usage BEFORE you start to play the game? Any process hogging up the system?

ya, likely a cpu usage issue, restart system before hardcore usage...

It may be a card issue, but it may also be a heat issue. Leaving your computer on for days at a time builds up heat, not much but enough to hinder performance. I would suggest turning it off when your not using it, and watch it. If the problem persists contact Xenophek - he really knows his stuff.

yep you guys were correct, it was indeed firefox takin up half a gig of my memory. games work fine now. stupid firefox.

firefox was taking up that much? Or something that ran "under" firefox? Some java thing leaking memory or something...

no seriously, firefox was indeed taking up that much memory. i killed the operation (i had 3 windows open) & it closed all 3 windows. i know i had java runnin on a few of em, but overall it had been usin up lil over half a gb of my memory. thats all it took to take care of the issue. thats why i love posting in these forums. it doesnt cost a penny to get advice (although it does cost $$ to keep the forums goin), not to mention that whenever someone has an issue, majority of the time the issue gets a response (more than likely an answer to the issue) within the hour. you cant get that kinda help from most places when it comes to computer-based tech help sites, at least not that quickly.
