Firefox popups woes

I got the brand-spankin'-new Firefox. It's interesting. Nicer than Explorer 8 in several things. That isn't the problem however. I need help in the popups... I am going to this (for example) Russian site. It's ok BUT... it's got smutty popups. IE8 stops them dead. Firefox doesn't (and popup blocker is ON). Is there a way to strengthen the popup blocker in Firefox?

-any help would be appreciated. thank you.

p.s. my pc is malware-free and has kaspersky looking out for me.

Install the following 2 Firefox extensions:

These 2 extensions will keep you safe form all the annoying pop-ups and ads.

still popping up... and real crappy. IE8 doesn't let those through. I even added that site to popup blocker addresses. still.... suggestions?

Delete it COMPLETELY
All cookies and stuff
Reinstall get the addons it should be fine.

I wouldn't install that addon. As you can see from the page, it's obsolete.

Replaces flash with a box you have to click on to load teh flash. Saves lots of bandwidth, stops pop-up flash ads, and other good stuff.

It blocks the scripts that sites try to run on your computer, unless you specifically grant the sites permission.

Also, I second that "don't install Filterset.G Updater"

yes, I gathered as much - and dind't install that second one. also I did install the first one but later I also installed the ADblocker plug-in. still...

-how do I COMPLETELY uninstall/delete it?

uninstalled Firefox completely. ran CCleaner for good measure. reinstalled w/o importing things from IE8. installed script blocker. seems to be doing well so far... too early to tell. thank you for the suggestions. kudos.

I had an OK youtube downloader plug-in before I reinstalled Firefox. now I don't remember what it was. it was free and it was embedded into the toolbarand it also converted stuff for free right there without buying/registering anything. (there are some sweet Il-2 vids there). I don't mean to step on anyone's toes but could you help me - what is that plug-in I'm searching for?

i would also recommend getting the google toolbar for Firefox, i've never known it to fail to catch an unwanted pop-up!!

it says "popup blocker only available in IE and not FireFox" which is the whole point.

i checked that out before - it says "u want better quality? register." which i'm not gonna do. apparently - it came up - found an idle folder on my pc - it happened to be the "ask & record toolbar" for firefox. that did it. thankx for ur answers, people!
