Can't find any computers in Canada.

I've looked high and low, I just can't find any good gaming desktop or laptop in Canada. I'm looking to spend no more than $1000. Newegg.com, costco.com, and such have great computers but when I go to the Canadian sites for them, they have garbage.

I would like to play COD4 on a decent fps. That is my goal. Also, I have never built a computer so I'm kinda not sure if I want to go with that. Up to you guys to convince me. ;)

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
 
This may sound stupid but why can't you just order one from newegg and get it shipped to Canada?

I don't know find a local computer shop, build one, there has to be a place to get a computer in Canada that is decent.
 
Like CC suggested, NCIX is very good.

I built my gaming PC last summer for $1100 from them.

Tiger Direct is also very good and I use them quite often for my business.

If you're looking for a pre-built ready to go PC you're going to get a lot less for your money than if you built it yourself.

Especially those "gaming" PCs. They often have special features which drives their costs way up. Or special hardware like gaming NICs - which by the way are a total waste of your money.

If I were you I'd either build it yourself or find someone who knows how to build it and buy them a case of beer to do it or something. You'll save a lot of money AND get more for your money.

If you're not sure how to spec out hardware we can most certainly aid you with that.
 
Newegg.com cannot ship to Canada, they sell stuff that can't cross the border (IE: any liquid product and other stuff that is restricted). If building your own PC is totally out of the question, than I would suggest ncix.com ; they have a system building thing on their website and their prices are decent.

But remember, building your own is the cheapest (and most fun :D) way of doing it.
 
I have built many computers and owned many pre-built setups. I really think it costs more to custom build one than buying one pre-built. Reason being is that the large computer companies are trying to get there inventory out the door and you can really find some good deals on computers that are already built. What I did was found one that was a decent price but had decent hardware. So I purchased it for like 600 bucks or something and it was a quad core, 4 gig ram, 9600 video card and came standard with a 700 watt power supply which is kind of unherd of in a prebuilt setup. What I did next was spend 200 on a new video card and 50 on more ram so now I have a GTS 250 1 gig and 8 gigs or ram and that is around 800 dollars give or take a few bucks.

Plus I don't need it but I got a warranty and I can return the darn thing in 90 days (which is already up) but still.

But building a pc is always fun. You get to pick every thing from scratch out that you want but after building so many and getting the 'fun' out of it I just wanted a computer that came to my door ready to play. I can always upgrade the key hardware that I am going to need to play top notch games.

Whatever you do it doesn't matter to me I am just telling you my opinion but there is 1 fact and that is you MUST not buy from bestbuy :)
 
You can also check out www.canadacomputers.ca . That's where I got my computer parts. If you want to save money, I suggest buying the parts and building it yourself. There are many guides online to help you with building the computer. Even if you buy the parts and you cannot build it yourself, many stores, like Canada Computers, can build it for you for a small price.
 
NCIX.com, TigerDirect.com, Newegg.ca are my favorite.
There are tons of stores.

That is a good looking computer for the price. It will run everything you play just fine.

theres got to be at least one place where they sell good gaming computers or at least decent
or just ship it to canada...is the shipping fee tat expensive???!!!
 
Yeah it will max out, but not at higher resolutions.
Make one yourself, I can help if you want PM me if needed.

You'll save money and you can get better parts for the money you spend.
 
Got mine at newegg =D well ours (me and my brothers) he know the models so ill ask him and post a photo of it
 
Yeah, I asked Compaq, Dell, Toshiba, AMD, Nvidia, etc., and a couple other brands why they don't have more products in Canada (I actually phoned and asked the reps). They told me the "demand wasn't high enough." Apparently big companies don't want to bring too many products to Canada due to whatever reason (less market, more customs, taxes, etc). It's unreal. I AM THE DEMAND, I'M CALLING YOU ASKING FOR XYZ.
For example check out dell.ca and dell.com. The differences in pre-build models available to customers, ESPECIALLY options/upgrades are COMPLETELY different. I'm using a simple laptop for my CS:S. It's an inspiron 1521 with an ati radeon x1250, THE ONLY graphics card I can get in Canada. But if you look on the dell.com site, they offer Nvidia and ATI upgrades that they don't offer in Canada. I don't know why they don't offer more here, because all their computers are shipped from Malaysia anyways. The Canadian options really do suck.

But anyways, shopping for a gaming PC in Canada, go with a build your own. The big companies are too stupid to offer anything better than "stock" options. My brother built one for $1100 and it runs everything (so far) full throttle. There are plenty of smaller computer stores that will put it together for like $50, especially if they have everything there already. Don't buy dell, whatever you do. Resist the urge.
