The New Sniper updates beg for no-scoping and partnership with Pyro

Okay, as we all know, the Huntsman can be lit on fire by the Pyro, and said arrows can set people on fire. It's like a way better Flare Gun.

On the other hand, we have Jarate, which essentially activates mini-crits when hit. This encourages no-scoping on the Sniper's part, considering that the new crosshair makes this much easier, and the Pyro reaps the rewards of the mini-crits the most, especially when compounded with Backburner (I tried this in the 2Fort server and we did soooo many cool ambushes with Jarate + Backburner, it was absurd).

Man, I love Sniper now.

Huntsman's overall sucky though. The only upside to it seems to be that its projectiles have HUGE hitboxes. I shot over a stationary Scout's shoulder and it still hit him.

Hmm so did they add a default crosshair to the sniper rifle? I remember that feature being there since a couple of updates ago except you had to set it up yourself.

Oh and I can't wait to try these out on my own once I actually find them. xD

Okay, I've changed my mind.

Jarate + Huntsman = Battle Sniper.

Like, seriously, the huntsman's arrow has a massive hitbox, so a quick jarate and Huntsman to the head can take down nearly anything except a Heavy. I've done so many close-up headshots with the bow that it's not even funny if it weren't for the fact that they are covered in urine.

I am seriously never going to get tired of this. This is revolutionary for the Sniper, imo. It makes a billion times more fun to play, not to mention a larger direct asset to the team due the instant mini-Kritz, awesome Spy-check maneuver, and fire-stopper.

Oh, and fire which was lit with a crit now results in each resulting bout of fire damage to also crit. So if you hit with the Jarate, light up your Hunstman, and hit an enemy, you'd have a mini-crit from the arrow plus mini-crit from each successive bout of fire damage. It's insanely strong.

The biggest downside, of course, if that the Sniper must get closer and his close-up options still aren't that much better. But I guess you could always try to go for the Bow stab (goodness knows I've tried a few time).

Couple things.

One, is Jarate basically essential for the Huntsman?

Two, what do you mean by bow stab?

Three, how's the ammo count?

I still can't find one. >>

And maybe I missed an important part of that post, but what is this great spy checking method?

I enjoy sniper a lot and often switch to Pyro to spy check on the db server so if I could play both roles at once... win!

Jarate makes the Hunstman much more deadly, imo.

Bow stab is the Huntman's taunt. He'll pull out the arrow from the bow, and stab forward with it. I've yet to hit with it, to be honest, so I don't know how much damage it'll do.

You get one jar which recharges over time, like the Sandman.

The Jarate soaks a Spy in pee, making his cloak inert and his disguise useless, not to mention he takes mini-crits. It's awesome.

Im guessing the Huntsman taunt bow stab is a taunt-KILL. How does the Jarate work? Comparing it to Left 4 Dead, do you throw it like a molotov, or pour it out like a vomiting boomer?

Personally I love the huntsman, ive used it for almost 1hr today and had quite a few headshots and pinned a ton of people to the wall...I love that bow, Battle Sniper anyone?

one question I've had is: if you extinguish a friendly with jarate, do he have mini-crits on him?

Nope. The only effect it has on friendlies is that it'll extinguish their flames within the impact radius. It has no other effects on friendlies other than that.
