If im not doing anything major on my computer and i touch my graphics card and it literally burns me, is that bad?

i have a problem where whenever i play a game my monitor just shuts off and i have to restart my computer, and i think this might be causing it

uh, yeah that's REALLY REALLY bad, it could lead to your graphics card melting. You need to buy some fans and install them in your computer.

ugh great. well i have a big fan blowing on the side of my computer (i have it opened up) so is that fine too?

If you have a fan blowing on it and its still that hot, then yes, you definitely have a problem.

Graphics cards should run hot, near burning temperatures, to the touch under /extreme/ load if they are passively (no fan) cooled.
If they are actively cooled, by a fan much bigger than them, with no side panel, they should not be hot enough to burn you.

Also, lots of modern graphics cards have thermal switches that shut off the card or the entire computer if they get too hot, so overheating could easily be the source of your problem.

wait wait , if the card is a 9800 gtx or higher the heatsink will always be very hot , hence heat transfer , infact if its not hot then id worry . the heatsinks on these cards are great 2 burn yourself with .

Check your temperatures and post them here, we will review it. Use cpu-z or some application that does that.

Well if its causing his computer to shut down it's running too hot. I had a laptop that would do this because the fan on it were crap.

Do what frap said.
