Item Trading!!!

This will be terrible if they allow trading in servers.

I can see it now, 5 guys sitting in spawn:
"I'll trade you an Axtinguisher for a Huntsman?"
"Okay!"
"What about this Sandman?"

**OUR LAST CONTROL POINT IS BEING CAPTURED**

Yeah, honestly I think that's gonna be the worst part of this whole update by far. Hopefully it's something like the GTS in the DS pokemon games, you put an item up for trade and set what you want in return, then if someone with the right stuff wants your item it can be done without any further interaction. there could just be a "trade list" with every item from every player in the server being offered.

I think it's likely going to be on a personally level. Like trading with your steam friends through IM or stuff like that.

Well Lance and Deadly Bunny...My friend is letting us use his server for tf2 for these things...so i think this shouldnt be a problem...besides it would be very difficult to organize if everyone is trading in game...

Yeah I'm willing to trade my ambassador for a huntsmen.

[Edit] Here's a list of things off the top of my head I have for trade. (Old and New players)

1. Ambassador
2. Razorback
3. Jarate
4. Krietzkrieg
5. Cloak and Dagger
6. Ubersaw
7. Sandman
8. Axetinguisher

Things I'm looking for...

1. Dead ringer
2. Huntsman

Things I'm giving for free...

1. 3 Sandviches
2. 3 Flareguns
3. 2 Bonks!
4. 1 Nastacha

I have the Dead Ringer -I'll never use it, not really a spy guy-.

If you have any scout upgrades I'll be more than willing to trade.

I need a huntsman, jarate, and razor back. Other than that I have every wep D:

What I find interesting about this is that yet again people are not only deciding what Valve's update is going to be like, but have already spotted the flaws in the system and are complaining about it, completely ignoring the fact that Valve could just as easily spotted the problem.

I'm reminded of the Dead Ringer. Back before the update was released people were deciding that Valve wouldn't be smart enough to include obituaries when the spies played dead. They then declared that the weapon was essentially broken because without the kill confirmations people would instantly know the spy wasn't dead. They started ranting about how terrible the watch was because of this, and all before anyone had actually gotten a chance to use the watch itself.

This is all in stark contrast to the actual watch, which not only includes fake kill confirmations but even shows the player on the scoreboard as being dead and awards achievements accordingly. In essence, the entire game treats it as if the spy has died.

Sometimes it seems that everyone thinks the entire staff at Valve is composed of idiots, completely ignoring the fact that these are the same people who made the game and are by all means more qualified to produce updates for it than us.

Not to mention, a hit taken after the Dead Ringer results in only 10% damage taken (meaning you survive Backstabs, Headshots, and even kill taunts!), puts out fire (although you can be quickly relit), and can be manually activated so that you can take a few hits before feigning death so it seems more realistic.

Oh! Also, disguising as a friendly and getting hit by the Dead Ringer results in the friendly's corpse being dropped and not the Spy's! So if you're dressed as a friendly Pyro and get hit with Dead Ringer on, you drop a Pyro's corpse, not your own. It's awesome.

Not to mention, using a Pocketwatch is awesome.

Well releasing a major update that has a HUGE bug in it right before a holiday weekend. Then telling us that we will like it once they finish the new "trading" system, in essence a half finished update. Pretty much puts the folks at Valve right in the spotlight as Blooming Idiots. :cursing:

Indeed, except that the trading system is quite likely to be another important part of the game and one that needed perfecting before being released to the public.

But can you say that would not have complained had they taken another three months to make this update? Just to finish the trading system? Let the sinless be the first to throw the stones.

Let me shed some light on the inventory and unlock system. A great criticism is that it keeps giving you duplicates. In truth this is because it's giving you weapons entirely randomly and with such as small pool of weapons to choose from you see the same weapons popping up a lot.

Since the default weapons take up no inventory space we shall exclude them from the following discussion.

Consider for the fact that valve has altered it so when you modify a specific weapon selection it currently shows space enough for three weapons (so if you have found two backburners and go to modify your famethrower style weapon, you have the standard flamethrower and two backburners to choose from); consider that this layout also has a scroll bar, so that means that there is no upper limit to how many of a specific type of weapon you can have and also indicates that Valve plans (as for the scroll bar to ever be in usage you would need 3 different unlockables) to have at least three (excl. default weapons) weapons for you to choose from for each weapon category from scouts scatter gun to spy's invisibility watch. That's a minimum of (3 weapons per weapon category + 3 weapon categories per class + 9 classes=3x3x9) 91 weapons..

Then there's also the hats to choose from, as well as different categories of customizable clothing. We can reasonably assume that in addition to the hats we will also be getting at least one more set of clothing for the classes (whether hats or something else is subject to debate), so that's another 18 slots.

So by the end of this all we might very well have 109 items in game and only fifty slots to hold them in.

You can see why the trading system might now be so useful, as we will be deleting weapons right and left to get ones we want right now, and since you only get weapons every couple hours that means trading will be a primary means of securing weapons, as everyone is going to want something.

I unfourtunately after 16 hours of gameplay have unlocked an extra natascha, KGB, and Kritzkrieg. I deleted those because someone said deleting them would make it more likely to get new spy one's. I only have the Dead Ringer. I'd love the Cloak and Dagger and Huntsman, Jarate, and Ambassador would be swell.

If I get any extra's I'll be sure to post here!

Cool that'll be a way better way!
i would be happy to trade anything for all the spy's weapons and snipers. (but not the Jarate)
ps i have every old item except helmets!

I need any scout upgrades.

Mainly the level 10 shotgun.

Things I have to trade:
PeeBomb (Jarrate or something)
Razorback
Sandman
KGB (The boxing gloves for Heavy's)
Dead Ringer
Axetinguisher
I have a level 10 or w/e level Medic healing weapon aswell. Can't remember the name.

Thank goodness. So far since the update I've found 3 Blutsaugers, a Cloak and Dagger and Natascha. I think TF2 gave me the Blutsaugers just to spite me, since I'd just manged to unlock enough achievements to get it the night before. (Still relatively new to the game, if my serious lack of medic achievements wasn't a tip off.)

I have 2 dead ringers to give way so far. Will update if I get anything else.

BTW, anyone else hate that snipers now have a sight reticule? Makes it feel less like sniper, more like rifleman.
