team fortress 2 noob in need of help

ok so i just got this rlly fun game yesterday cuz it was on sale and now i don't understand how other ppl get like the better guns
for ex. so rite now i rlly like the sniper, tats the only class i use and i don't noe how to get the bow and arrow
can someone tell me how to get the better guns
probably an easy answer...so just tell me!!..plz

Hi bandgeek, glad to have you here!

First of all, the new weapons are 'side-grades' rather than upgrades (meant for different playing styles). Second of all, with the new system, all you have to do is play and you will randomly get new items. Sometime in the future, Valve will allow players to trade those items.

Welcome to tf2, you may want to bid farewell to your CS:S friends because tf2 rocks and is addicintg! You may not go back! lol

before it was by achievements (press Esc and click " Achievements) but now it was changed b/c due to the hacking by many players it is now by random chance of VALVe giving out the weapons which is very hard to get. But i read from another forum thread that it may not be pernament so don't worry.... as much. :S
