I can't say that I really have any problems with it. It was a bit frustrating at first (and still occasionally is) that the unlockables are random instead of giving me something to work towards, but it doesn't bother me enough to really complain about it.

I know a few people that have hated the update enough to completely uninstall TF2, which I just don't understand at all. They were mad about HEADGEAR for crying out loud.

Valve is gay.

I'm sure if they say this, they will be warned, if it is an (e) they will be kicked or in the worst case banned

But it is a freedom of speech, valve is trying to continue adding new stuff, but why? They don't need to, the game is just fine the way it was when I first started playing it

The person said that on another server while eGO servers where full.

Most games I have to worry about lvling up or getting achievements, but now that achievements dont affect weapons, I can focus more on having fun.

maybe it's just me, but I was under the assumption paying customers had the right to complain if they did not like the product they were receiving

here again, that's just me

If you hate complaining, avoid the TF2 Steam Forums. Granted, they are always bad, but after this update getting any help is impossible. Every thread degrades into "Valve sux! olololol!"

Valve is a VERY good company. People take that for granted. Try getting the communication between players and the company and many helpful tools from other large gaming companies like EA or Rockstar Games. Take it from me, responses are very unhelpful from both of them and any "help" they give you will usually make things worse because the product is the flawed thing. Plus if the player base truly hates something, it never changes. Not unless sales go down. Valve is always willing to listen to the fanbase and make changes. People are just too impatient and ungrateful to them when everything isn't exactly how they want it.

Yes, but it seems as if the only people with any say lately are the people who complain.

Your right, but its getting out of hand. Valves "Contact Us" mail boxes are full of spam from people unhappy with the update. The Steam forums are spammed with "We hate Valve!". Even other gaming communities are doing protests against Valve.

Theres a difference between a polite email/letter and the things listed above.

we should just play and let it go if it changes it changes if it doesnt then it doesnt we are still going to play tf2 either way

wait, if I get this right... (Not trying to flame but...) without user input Valve wouldn't have nerfed the demoman when needed, they wouldn't have changed crits, the game would be as it was when it started. If you play a sport, say rugby (Im using this cos it's the only sport I play) you are not allowed to pass forwards, if the SRU (Scottish Rugby Union) didn't take input from the players, the game would be a much more dangerous place. They implemented new measures, yes people probably complained, but overall it helped. People don't like change. This happens at every update. Everybody, everybody hated the sandman when it was released not that long ago, do you hear complaints now? No... because people got used to the change. People are complaining about this new system, yes it has its flaws, but so did the old system. Valve are still working out the kinks, with our input valve can see what they need to change, the system isn't fully in place, and I fear there is soon going to be a war on forums about this update system. Its a marmite update, you either like it or don't. Threads like these usually start flame wars, which isn't good.

Well Sandman isn't OP any more with increasing minim distance for stun, shortening the stun some, and the 1/2 damage while stunned.

-------As for getting over it well that's just not for me. I paid for the game; Valve is making money, they don't deserve a break when the mess with the consumers. They shipped an unfinished update by not including the trading feature. I feel they should have tested random drop system with hats only to start until they finished the trading system to couple the new drop method. The reason the complaints are much larger than any previous update, is that Valve, a professional company, shipped an update with many flaws. I feel by the time they implement the new trading method, it will be too late to be much affect for the S&S update.
-------They are also making the game "more fair" to new players. While the new loot (yes i went there) system makes perfect business sense, the core of TF2 doesn't like it. Valve is good about listening to the veteran players; however, gearing a game to be more noob friendly doesn't float my boat. My frustration about this gearing of games to new player isn't just to Valve. I feel that Video Game makers in general are too scared to make something hard.

Call me a video game elitist; I really don't care... that's why i play Mega Man for NES still :P

Sorry if I'm trollin' but that's my opinion.

Three thoughts:

1. People are not happy unless they have something to complain about.

2. People are uncomfortable when confronted with change. It's hardwired into us. What is different is not understood and may be a source of danger.

3. One way of taking the measure of a person is to see how they react to change. As Rindy Ross taught us all. "The coolest of cool is grace under fire"

The only reason I like it is because I dont know any different. (I got the game over free week-end)

But still.

Then you have no right telling people they cannot complain
People who bought the game years before are familiar with the old system
You can't force people not to give their thoughts about an update
I'm fine with the update and i have had TF2 for about 6 months
I still think they should have the miles stones anyway... just to make sure you get EVERY weapon...
Otherwise it is not fair...
Valve listened to all the noob players bitch about how hard it is to get the milestones
HELLO
It is called an achievement server...
I earned all my achievements just by playing...
Anyway
You are being a hypocryte by making this thread, you're moaning about people moaning lol
Seems stupid to me, but then... what do I know?

Your right, but its getting out of hand. Valves "Contact Us" mail boxes are full of spam from people unhappy with the update. The Steam forums are spammed with "We hate Valve!". Even other gaming communities are doing protests against Valve.

This is pathetic...
If they are this against it then they have no social life...
It is just a game and changes happen
I'll live with the new system, but a mixture of both would not go a miss.

You at some point have to account for the average age of the playerbase. I mean at least when I was 13 I wasnt smart enough or compelled enough to go onto a message board and badmouth people. But most of the storm spinning around in the teacup known as the TF2 forums is undoubtedly from the less mature crowd. Those ones that dont know how not to reply to every thread they read, or how not to start a new thread to say the same thing in 30 other threads. Its why I try to stay in more civilised areas of the internet.

Ultimately though the tinder came from valve. Their victims of their own success and frankly its their own fault for building up anticipation the way that they do before a major release. The trickling amount of detail that leads to assumptions that leads to expectations that are never fully or in many cases partially met.

This time around, it was surprising us all from nowhere with the introduction of the random drop. Yes they mentioned it, a year ago. And we havent heard about it since. Then one day it was just "there". With no explanation. And then the explanation that was provided offered up more trickling details, and confusion, and admission of it being an incomplete system (though we are not told in what way) and an "oh btw buy our merch" segu?.

If they really wanted to have appeased the entire playerbase all at once, to be honest, they should have just given us the weapons from the get-go.

To be honest I have a lot of patience to give valve. Such an awesome developer. And most people pay only pennies for this game, and the average play to date for most users is anywhere from 50 to 500 hours. Its really not worth playing the "But I paid you!" card. But I dont feel I'd be doing them justice if I didnt offer them criticism every once in a while. Their delivery on this new system was awful. Even worse than the scout achievements, which I thought were their worst case of oversight to date. But what really upset me is what they have done to cp_egypt since the scout update and I am about to bump my own thread to have a good cry about it....
