When CSS gets in the way of life

control those urges to play when working on that report, you will feel so good the next day knowing you finished it

and if you find yourself giving in and playing when you know you should be working on that report, don't get down on yourself, just uninstall. I promise you, It really is no big deal to uninstall and reinstall in a week or 2, you will be able to concentrate on what it is you need to do.

yea...4th marking period came and i realized I was failing bio...
and my CS:S hours were unreal so i decided to play a LOT less. In the past 2 weeks its says ive only played a few hours. At first its hard but you get back to life and for me its extremely busy with track and keeping my grades.
I agree with this 100%, my grade in bio is even a C+ now! haha, not great but better than failing :)

This is happening right now. lol xD It's cool though I know I'm going to get it done, plus even if I didn't do the report at all I would still have 100% (have 110% in the class, Spanish 2). I don't play much anymore anyway. Mostly only on weekends and when I have time that I'm not spending with friends. Yeah Born to Pwn has friends, can you believe it? xD

Im graduating Friday with a 3.75 GPA... but then Imma have a job this summer cept on the weekends. But yes RL > VL

true im never gonna uninstall css though but i know im getting bad grades but i already know what im doing in life so grades dont really matter in the profession.(joining the army)

You are awesome! I admire you J/K. But, you know king you gonna have to wake up SOOO EARLY it's hell.Old Man is soo true. I am getting all As except in stupid health so I'm ok. But, hang in there don't start loosening up. There's still few more weeks left. Then, you guys can 24/7 CSS But you gonna get bored of it in like 1 week haha

good for you!! C+ is definitely better than failing, C+ means that with just a little bit more effort next year you will easily be having a B+ to A- :thumbup1:

PBStar, also good for you, now step away from the chalupa, I mean forums, and in a few weeks we all want to hear about the great grades you get on your finals, you can do it!!!

good advice but i don't have finals...but i could use a little less of cs:s/tf2

I can only play on weekends, so im pretty much covered. I get so bored on the weekdays and i want to play CS:S, but then I remember that I need good grades in order to play. But other than that, I can play all day, everyday during the summer. yay!

Some of you sound like you need to straighten out your priorities...

Don't think of grades, or social life, or exercise, etc. as things that
"need to be done before games". Rather, try to slowly re-teach yourself that education, social life, and exercise are far BETTER! and more important. Most people say, "Yeah, I know school is important." But do you think it is BETTER?!?! If you can train yourself to appreciate education and social and exercise as the best things of your day, then you are on a good path. However, some people simply have to learn the hard way....I was one of those people.

See, that's how I used to think, and I'll tell you exactly where it gets you....

1a) Played too much CS:S in highschool...graduated 3.5 GPA and a full ride in-state! :D
1) lost scholarship because I developed bad habits (too much CS:S, poker)
2) I have to get a job because I lost my scholarship and developed bad habits
3) I have to work and pay my way through college full time because I lost my scholarship and DEVELOPED BAD HABITS
4) disappointed parents because I DEVELOPED BAD HABITS
5) have to move out and pay rent for my own place because I DEVELOPED BAD HABITS
6) Now I have to do life the HARD way...because I DEVELOPED BAD HABITS.

P.S.: If anyone else would like to talk to me about exercise, feel free. I'm no expert, but what I can tell you is once I hit my rock bottom...I changed the way I lived forever. I went from waking up at noon, playing CS:S all day, eating hot pockets and drinking soda and sitting on my ass all day inside away from friends....---TO---> Waking up at least by 10 every morning, and I picked up biking as a hobby/release exercise and now I'm almost in ideal shape, confident, and biking around 25 miles a day! I have literally changed my life because of this exact thread....thats what I meant by "rings true and close to me".

I hope every single one of you who is struggling with exercise, or addiction..YES, addiction! gets to feel good about yourself whether it's getting back in shape, dating that girl in that one class, or simply straightening up your schedule!! I'd be happy to talk to any of you guys :D

MUCH <3 <3 eGO FAMILY

hmmmm, i swore me and a couple of people have mentioned this before. i know i made a topic about this too. css does and will never come first. only a very lucky FEW can make a living out of this. this is not only in css, but ALL games wise.

to put it simply, family > school > eGO > games

thats how i look at it.

and here is the topic i mentioned about that i posted a few months before -

http://www.edgegamers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=71385

long to read, so im not telling others to read it, but please hit the search button sometimes, you would be surprised what you find on the forums.

like i said, i used to play a lot of games too, i still do, but i now realize whats more important to me. i got my act together, worked my butt off and graduated high school in half an extra year then another full year. and just started college and finished my first semester. although i cant say this was a good one because of the very fast transition from high school to college. i also know have a decent job where i give my mom and dad half of my pay to help support them.

guys, its all fun and games until it hits you hard. some are lucky they will never hit this until later on in life, but many will get hit hard and fast, and then it will be up to you if you want to take a step up and focus your priorities.

if anyone needs someone to talk to, you can always give me a pm and ill gladly talk to you.

im going to take what i think is the most important parts i usually tell people who still think schools are for fools.

yes, most of the things you learn in school is useless. not going to deny it never will deny it. but what i have learned from this is not what learned from the books, but from whom i have learned from. teachers that you can talk to and always encourages you. friends that are there to make school more fun. it is up to the person on what they want to get out of the place they call school. and although what you learn from school is useless, think about this, jobs hire people with degrees first, that is another why school is important.

think of it as a waste of time, or an opportunity with many doors that are open for you to choose, it is up to you, not anyone else.

to close up, i want to take a quote that i mention in my other thread and also to people who i have talk to who are doing bad in school or about dropping out of school -

"in high school and now, I talked to people my own age and also younger people about dropping out. some just think dropping out saves them time and think its ok to do it and think they will make it. some will, many won't. when I talk to them, every single one has come up with this counter about dropping out, "well look at Bill Gate's he dropped out of school and look at him. he owns Microsoft." yes, he was a dropout, and yes he owns multimillion, if not billion dollar company. I always end the conversation with this, and I mean always. "remember our talk about Bill Gates? yes he dropped out, and he made it in the world. there is one big difference between you and him. He dropped out of Harvard, you didn't.""

hope you guys take the time to read this and the post i mentioned and good luck to everyone out there. and again if anyone needs someone to talk to, just give me a pm and ill see where we can set up at.

very nice frantic, fatty. Yes there have been other post, like i said, this was just a reminder, especially here at the end of the school year

Wow some of you guys scare me, you guys do not care about your grades, some of you like getting C's? I balance out my life with this game and I get straight A's

Yeah, I think my worst grades are about even with some people's best. But then, my overall Steam playtime over two weeks is usually under 30 hours, and I've seen plenty of people around 100.

I almost feel sorry for those people

All about priorities, games wait for you, reality doesn't.
