hi!

i bought an ATI 4850 one week ago , but , for some reason , its bottlenecking , because i saw people with the same gaming rigs and can play crysis (for example) on high , i get 25 fps on high , the same on medium , and exactly the same on low , my mobo is an Intel CLassics DG35EC , its supports PCI-E 1.1 X16 , could be that? because crysis ran smoother on my old car (8800gs) , these are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4600 2.40GHZ
4GB DDR2 Kingston 667MHZ
Sapphire Radeon 4850 512MB DDR3 DUAL SLOT EDITION

im starting to think its my mobo , could be that?

What should i do?

Bye!

Do you have the most up to date drivers for the card?

If you only have the CD drivers, check the ATI site for new ones.

Exactly, NEVER go by the drivers on the cd. I learned that at a very early age. Pretty much you never know how old the driver is (even tho they put it on a cd for you because they want you to use the cd). In all reality, when it comes to getting a new video card, its ALWAYS best to visit the video chipset manufacturer to get the latest drivers. This way, you know you wont get taken for a ride.

No way your 8800 should've ran better than that, and a bottleneck will only cap performance, not severely decrease it, so you shouldn't experience less performance from a newer card.

I can only suggest that you install your latest drivers.
That machines processor could be a bottleneck but it wouldn't be a major one and there is no logical reason a bottleneck would make that card perform worse than an 8800

also, i know people sometimes over check this, but make sure your chipset drivers are up to date. Since your chipset handles all the information, its always good to upgrade your motherboard drivers.

So my Suggestions along with everyone else -

Make sure your Video Card Drivers are fully up to date
Make sure your Motherboard Drivers are fully up to date

I installed the lastest Video card drivers , but , how do i install the lastest motherboard drivers??
i dont know where to download them lol
(the mobo came with a CD i installed them from there)

whoever the motherboard manufacturer is, go to their site. if you know the model of ur motherboard, that will help. if it was factory made, then depending on how old the machine is, you might be out of luck.
