Hey guys i have a problem and my FPS has been going down! I don't know why? I used to have like 60 on L4D And now i have like 20-35. I heard something about cleaning, will that help? How do i do it?:confused1:
Depends
When was the last time you cleaned you PC and I mean cleaned... not blew
Leave your PC off all night, open the bugger up
And wipe everything clean
NOOO not with water or wipes... toliet paper or whatever
Something soft ^_^ not to damage the motherboard.
Well first thing's first, make sure you're not running any programs in the background that could be using up your ram. Also, be sure keep your video card driver up to date, I know that has caused problems for me in the past. If it all comes down to physically cleaning, absolutely compressed air is the tool.
Could have virus(es)/spyware hogging your system resources. Open task manager and go to processes. Look for anything that's hogging a large amount of CPU power and/or memory. Run your virus scan if you have one(if not, say so and we'll get you the best we know about for free).
Run disc defrag, disc cleanup, and CCleaner(Here).
Download the latest driver for your video card(if Nvidia you should get 185.85 for best performance, dunno 'bout ATi).
Also make sure your video settings in the game haven't been changed(could have been a side effect of an update or something).
Cleaning out your computer of dust is a good idea; however, I don't believe it is the issue here. I suppose it's possible though. You can download Rivatuner(Here) and check your GPU temps.
