Human Beings did What? Why? How? Hu?

Have any of you ever thought... has anyone ever actually done anything totally good for another, without thinking of the benefits? I believe to answer this question you should think to yourself, what was the last good deed that I performed? What went through your mind prior to acting upon your thoughts? If you're a believer in God, or some other higher power, did you stop to think of the blessings you would receive for doing it? Perhaps no human can do something solely for the benefit of another. When examining these things, I've come to the conclusion that we are quite the deceitful race, for we are evolved and advanced, yet act so primitive. Where we call ourselves civilized we are but slaves to our natural emotions... lust, greed, power. Pondering even more on this topic, the question is begged, is the innate nature of human beings evil? The book Lord of the Flies seems to have captured that thought. William Golding suggests that human beings stranded as the boys were would resort to their primitive ways and become savages. This being said, the book did begin with a democratic society, but one that was easily corrupted by one manipulative person. My answer to this question is that human beings are born neutral, we do what we must to survive, until we are taught by others. Human beings managed to setup government and get us where we are today. Does this not suggest that we are born with some good? I cannot answer all of these questions, these are things to think about before you go outside, and examine the world around you. I want to know what you think. You're all playing video games, along with myself, such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2, all based on violence. Does this mean that we're blood thirsty animals? What are we? Why do we do what we do? What do you think?

Feel free to answer any one of these questions, I feel that anything you can offer is just a knowledge gain for myself and the rest of the EGO community.

Anyway, I believe that the human race started good. I'll leave it at that, I think.

I believe we are not in fact born neutral, but born evil.
Do you have to teach a child greed? No, a newborn will cry for its first breath of air, or a fresh bottle, or a diaper change. You do not have to teach it to do that.
Do you have to teach a teenager lust? No, they will seek out those they find attractive and act on their instinct.

We have learned to coexist within not only our species, but with other species. We create a common moral code ("common sense") that has been taught and improved upon for <insert your age of the earth here> years.

We have learned to be good. But we are born selfish, with nothing but pure instinct which is to survive.

The better question is, are our motives of survival really evil? Not necessarily. I don't think a want to survive is evil... uncivilized by definition, but not evil.
