Windows 7 Release Date

RC1 runs amazing on laptops, too - the decreased overhead really gives my mobile a boost :)
 
I did some checking online. You can google the codes for a free three month trial of TechNet Plus Direct. A co-worker signed up and started downloading all kinds of software (legally) without having to provide a credit card.

Again, this is for testing only so follow the nice rules set by Microsoft. Also you can find other codes for 12+3 months at 20% off. This is a good deal if you're always building systems or if you need OS and Apps.

For you younger folks, why not download the virutal PC and learn about SQL or Exchange... These are some good skills to have ENTERING the work world.

... or just get it so you can get free copies of Office and Windows7... whatever floats your boat.
 
Once Windows 7 comes out I'm buying copy at new egg.

Also if it's cheep like 50 dollor or 100 i will buy it.

i am running the new windows 7 64bit OS with 8 gigs and have zero trouble with anything, but i have found one small hick up when it came down to my sound card, i have been unable to uses my creative sound card due to no new drivers just yet. But i am hopeing the drivers will come out soon until then im stuck with the onboard sound card. I love windows 7 so nice and straight forward!!!!
 
I'm using it right now, only had the RC for a day but the beta was amazing when I had it. I uninstalled the beta because it wouldn't work with any punkbuster games. Does the RC work with punkbuster?

I had vista problems from the start - apps/games dont work as on XP - simpsons' hit & run, scarface: the world is yours, tony hawk's american wasteland, MS's own picture it!, MS's own visual basic (6 I think)... drivers for hardware - most are nonexistent when it comes to vista - why buy all-new hardware if you install a new OS?! that's BS! bothmy network adapters hung and didn't work well (although one specifically said "for vista")...

windows 7 RC is much better. I highly suggest ditching the beta for the RC.

Only a few weeks before the beta expire.

So far I have been running the beta and rc on my computer since they came out. I set it up to multi-boot vista and w7 and I've gone back to vista maybe three or four times just to get some files.

My main pc is a tried and true wolfade 8500 and 4GB of ram with an nvidia gtx 285 and creative sound card. There were new drivers released I think in April or May for W7 for my card and I have to say I have not been more happy with W7.

So what’s different... W7 is based on the same code as server 2008. Both are based on the Vista code but MS did a lot of work to optimize the OS so it does run much faster and it is more stables. So.. take most of the stuff that sucks about Vista out, speed it up a bit and bang… W7.

Look around on Microsoft’s web site and you can find all the details.

I've had TechNet for a few years and it's how I legally get what I need to test things for work or go though labs and exercises in the courseware I use to keep my certifications current. Like someone mentioned... Virtual PC and TechNet and you can go to down. If you want to get hardcore install a server with a bunch of ram and up all kinds of stuff. ;)
