Hey everyone im haveing some video card problems i have a 8400-Geforce pci express i go into css and get the net graph and it says Fps:15 can i have some help on how to raise it the Video card box says it can do 300 fps please can someone help me to improve my video card.:facewall:

yes i used the disk and cheched on windows update i have all the updates and drivers for the card.:facewall:

i can guarantee you will not reach 300 FPS on CS with that card.
but some ways to improve your FPS is to lower the graphics....i personally cannot play on widescreen resolutions because my card doesn't like widescreen (8600 GT OC) so don't play widescreen. either play reg 4:3 ratios or just on window mode. Also lower the graphics settings, and possibly even the direct X level. To do so type mat_dxlevel 70 or 80 or 81, i believe are the options, in console.
you can also google "casey's config" and use that...has a bunch of console commands in order to lower your graphic strain and gain FPS

Thank you junk

Yeah, the box isn't talking about what your thinking, that card really isnt a "gaming" card, but you still should be able to tweak CSS enough for it to be at a playable level.

oh right another nifty one that isn't in the caseys config is cl_ragdoll_physics_enable 0 which will turn off dead bodies. people will just fade out instead of leaving dead bodies for your graphics card to render all day long...especially helpful for our large servers.
and if you turn your directX level down to 70, make sure you type in mat_specular 0 in order to not see white boxes around everything (im pretty sure that was the command to get rid of those)

As posted in another thread i cannot find right now, You will not get much higher frame rates from a higher graphics card as the steam engine runs off of Processor power

try getting the drivers from nvidia's website, sometimes windows doesnt upgrade it to the right one. thats what i had to do.
