pc problems

recently my computer just turned off when i was using it and it won't go back on . i looked at it and nothing is unpluged and i can;t figure out why it won't go on . Any ideas ? alot of my tf2 maps/custom skins r lost now

assuming it's PSU and nothing wrong with your hard drive, you can take it out of the dead PC and put it in a new one.

Borrow a known good power supply from a friend.... install it and see if it fixes the computer... if it does, but a new PSU... if not... come back...

If you get no activity whatsoever, then it is your power supply in some fashion - may be an internal connector unplugged, bad external cable, or PS connection to your motherboard. If it was any other component, you would get a power supply fan starting up at the very least. If you get that but nothing on screen, then we can address that further.

Start there and get back to us with what you have diagnosed.

My pc works somedays but not others . the entire problem is it crashes when i try an launch something (usually after an hour or 2 ) and its not overhating . I get a bubble come up telling me a lan cable is not plued in and cannot connect over and over . my pc has everything lugged in but the problem continues.

wait....if your rig is crashing, how are you getting a pop up?

Before blaming it all on the PSU... Does your monitor and cable/dsl modem stay on when the computer itself goes off?

When the lan cable disconnect comes up, check if your cable/dsl modem is still on.

It might be your UPS or power strip is going bad. Try switching that out first.


If you have them all plugged directly into a wall socket, then your problem might be the motherboard. Also you need to buy a surge protector at least.
