Team Fortress 2 - 1st impressions

agh want so bad, not allowed to get until christmas :(

This is sooo different... Definitely a WOW to look at
But it's not ( other than the types of players ) Fortress...
Everything is missing, No one has any grenades, so no grenade jumping...
Demo has no det packs, Pyro has no rockets and so on...
When DOD was ported to the new engine, it kept the same feel, but with much better graphics
Now my favorite map " The Well " ( sigh ) is a train switching yard...
What have they done...

holy crap no grenades,... maybe i dont want this game!... and i saw someone say that the spy turned into an enemy skin (like in clasic) but doesnt every preview show him turning invisible? whats the deal, did they make the invisible thing up?

It's fine without grenades. Believe me, nothing pissed me off more than to be grenaded ever 12 seconds because they kept throwing nades in the spawn.

And yes, Monkey, spies do turn invisible.

I played when I finally got it to work. First impresision... Looked cool, moved like a cartoon, felt weird like I was watching someone else play. I was really excited , but now Im kinda down. Game froze on me so I only played about 10 minutes thus far.

DoD: Source...really...didn't keep the same feel. Have you any idea how many Classic DoD players refused to move to Source because it was so different?

As someone who still helps run a Classic DoD clan and plays on our old server, I can tell you it is NOT easy switching back and forth between games. There's a very different feel to it. They screwed up pretty much all of the weapons, left out 5 weapons from the game (including both FG's), removed pistols from classes that really could've used them, and now riflemen are stuck with shooting their rockets at the ground if they want to prime them, and no rifle butt or bayonet!

...DoD: Source is very, very different from Classic DoD. And I was expecting TF2 to be very, very different from the original TF. ...everyone should've been expecting it to be a lot different.

Either way, I still haven't gotten a damn credit card to work and still have recieved no response from Valve's little support team so I don't have it yet. But I'll try again tomorrow and hopefully be kicking but in TF2 soon. Looks like a lot of fun.

More screens please!

"The steam servers are currently top busy to handle any more TF2 preloads at this time"

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I enjoy it without grenades to be honest. Yes, the spy has the ability to turn into an enemy skin, and has the power to cloak(invisible) for a short amount of time.

So far, after about two hours of play, this is my take...

At first, I was blown away by the whole presentation. The way it snaps to your killer and keeps track of you stats and the way it looks...just everything drips style and is very slick.

The guns shoot sort of weird and take a bit of getting used to. The spy was really, really fun to play. The other classes were pretty fun also. I couldn't settle on one that I really enjoyed the most though so I kept switching around. I guess it depends on mood...the problem is that there isn't really any one simple shooter class...a guy with a nice smg and handgun or whatever. The "soldier" is really just a rocket launcher guy.

The game was incredible during the first hour or so of play, but after that it lost some of its charm. It's still cool, but I don't know how much I'll be playing it.

!mistrust
I feel a tad embarrassed, I was in a server and this fella was cussing up a storm. I got sick of it because constant screaming of the C-word, the F-word, and the N-word really angered me. I told him if he doesn't stop I'd kick him, thinking I was still in an eGO server. So the guy challenged me to what I said, me still thinking I was on an eGO server. And it ended up he was an admin and he booted me.

I can't remember what the server was called though. This has happened in real life too, in class a girl was complaining about her parents being arses and using colourful language. I told her to watch her mouth and she made fun of me...

I guess you guys are really rubbing off on me.

Too funny Thor. Well my game keeps freezing so no fair opinion yet. But I am representing eGO well with a couple of top scores in Peggle. !amazed I love that game. Quack

Uhh! I have Worms World Party, RoM!

Excellent game!

I just use millions of Banana Bombs!

Hmm i wonder if i should cancel my pre-order though i would really like Episode 1, 2 and I hear Portal is awesome.

God I miss classic DoD i played that game for YEARS!!!
Favorite Moment using up all my Mauser ammo then just stabbing people.

I might get TF2 2marrow, but i have to have money for halo 3, some I might just wait for my bday after the beta before the release in like 2 weeks :)

=(eG)= Tweek

Anyone try the scout (is that what he is called....)? Anyway, I spent about an hour just smacking people with the baseball bat. Ha, my team actually told me to hunt spies, so I got something like 20 of them in one round......good times.

I played until 5am this mrning. This pretty much sums it up for me.

I hate turrents: only when they aren't mine.
I love the sniper taking time to get to full power.
The heavy will chew you up upclose, but is harmless at distance.
I love playing scout, but got stabbed by so many spys.

All in all, I love it.
