Okay, here's my review for the Sims 3: :thumbup1:
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gunna go play it some more...
Okay, okay, I'll give a real review, but its addicting. Really addicting. But hey, its The Sims...
The Sims 3 is a shocker because it wasn't developed by Maxis, but rather an in house EA company, and that normally spells bad news for a franchise that was once handled by another company. Yet the gameplay is still addicting, and it evolves the series enough to be considered a true sequel and not just another expansion or "Stuff" pack (Though I betcha anything we'll have thousands of expansions soon enough... :glare
The biggest innovation is that the sims can actually traverse the world seamlessly and spend a lot more time out of the house. All this connects to the classic "Sims" elements like their needs, relationships, etc. My biggest beef is sometimes a sim can get stuck, and the camera controls are fidgety and over complex. Also, the tutorial is long, tedious, and user un-friendly unless you are a complete and utter new comer to video games period, and if you are, why are you here?
The other thing I can slight against it is the fact that the customization element isn't as glitchy/insane as the one from #2, and while people might see that as a plus, for me, the creator of the ugliest most insane sims on the planet, am sad that I can't create a completely hollow sim with a gigantic nose and eyes that half prod out of his head and teeth popping out from the lips. You can still make some freaky looking, or good looking sims yourself. Speaking of looks, the game looks good. While it may not be a massive technological achievement, its smooth, clean, and easy on the eyes and the character models are stylish and animate perfectly. The work that went into the art really shows.
There are only two other things I can give negatives to:
1. There's only one town, and I haven't found an ability to create new towns like in Sims 2
2. Many special objects cost real money. Way to go, EA. ALways finding new and innovative ways to squeeze money out of poor saps for crappy "stuff" packs that just add a few in game objects. I shall not be fooled though. :chair:
Otherwise, there really isn't much to say. It's Sims. If you like them, well then what the hell are you waiting for? It's the best Sims game yet, and it's well worth it.
