What is the best graphics card in the Nvidia series?

I now have enough money to buy the best graphics card out there! I don't want to mess it up and buy some half year old one, so I would think you guys would know which is the best. Yes, I have a PCI Express 2.0. No, I don't have room in my case, I decided I will either take off the wall or cut a hole.:thumbup:

the GTX 295 is currently the best card out there but it does cost $530.

If you have indefinite money and a tri-SLI motherboard then you can get 3 of these like Chief.

Although i hear this card is huge and you said that you don't have much room, but i guess you could mod your case a little.

yup that is the best right now, tho not necessarily the best for the money
when i make my necessary upgrades, no matter how old it is at the time im getting a GTX 260 with 216 cores black edition. that thing is a beast for its money, and will play any game i have or plan on playing on high. and for 500 bucks you can get 2 of them and run in SLI
but you said you have the money for it and want the best...that is the best (for maybe a couple of months longer)

Here ya go - a list of the "Best of the Best" according to MaximumPC.

Without a doubt the current "best" high-end video card is the GTX295 - no single card can touch the 295's numbers.

No - as far as I know they would either need to be both AMD/ATI or nVidia. Don't think you can mix and match THAT much ;-)

Hehe, OK thanks! My decision is the GeForce GTX 285 with 2 Gb's of ram. Seems easy to install, good performance, I'm just going to have to cut a hole on my wall to let it fit. ;P

The gtx 295 is the best single card but its 2 gtx 260's put together like the ati 4870x2, ive seen alot of benchmarks were 2 radeon 4890's in crossfire beat the gtx 295 so when they come out with the 4890x2 it will probably be the best, but im not sure about that.

They aren't coming out with a 4890x2, they're gonna release the HD 5000 series soon anyways methinks.

I wish I could get a GTX 280, but I guess that all i need is a 9800 GT with 512MB, considering that I'm going to be only playing Counter Strike Source and Team Fortress 2 online, and soon Left 4 Dead.

Don't really need that much of a killer hardware to run those games.

Intel Pentium M 3.0 ghz dual core (good 'n fast)
3GB of RAM (two 512MB, the rest 1GB)
XFX Geforce 8500 GT with 512MB (hoping to be able to dual run with 9800GT that would be killer!)
and that's pretty much it.

Single 260 would outperform duel 9800gt's by a considerable amount for less money and less hassle.

and this is correct there is not going to be a 4890x2 the HD 5000 series and the GTX 300 series are coming out in the fall
