pff 47, neither is great ACTUAL long range ... mp40 does hold a slight accuracy edge at medium-long range, but u simply dont get the random across the map headshots with it that u get with thompson (i don't get them from either gun =/ )

I choose the MP40 because it beats the sten as a 9mm smg and the thompson isn't really that accurate and on the game the thompson is slower than MP40 so i just prefer the MachinePistol40

thompson is perhaps the luckiest and easiest gun to use in the game. with the thompson you can do close range, mid range, and you can snipe with it too. It gets rediculous at times. So in my opinion thompson is a far better gun.

My recommendation of an alteration to the gun? thats easy. I wish steam would nerf the stupid gun to be on the same level as the mp40. They need to reduce range to where you cant snipe with it, and they need to reduce accuracy according to range.

Thompson, because it is American made. (Just kidding!)

Thompson is easier for me to use between these two weapons. Either weapon is fine, but you better go for head shots or you will take too long for a kill.
