Driver Issue

So the other day I decided that I would update my graphics driver, because it had been a while. After DLing it I get on and start playing some dods. After about 45minutes my graphics glitch, and the game freezes up. After a few minutes it finally "sorts" it out and brings my to the desktop, the resolution is reset to like 800x600 and I get a pop up that says "The NV4 display driver has stopped working normally, please reboot your system to restore it to normal". This happens everytime I play dods, sometimes it does it after only like 10 minutes, and sometimes it takes like and hour.

Could it be as simple as just re-dling the driver?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Try uninstalling, restarting, and downloading and installing the official drivers again, then restarting.
 
Hmm. I forgot how I did it when I had a similar issue. Try looking around in your graphics card folder for some uninstaller, or if you have a disk use that.
 
You can uninstall it 2 ways.

The add and remove programs area like you normally would for any other program or through the device manager.

If you don't know where to find these areas lets us know and someone will help ya out.
 
yup you need to either update to a newer driver or more likely rollback to the previous one.

To uninstall either do it through control panel and find the nvidia uninstaller. In my case it is listed as NVIDIA Drivers.

You can also do it in device manager. Right click on My Computer and go to properties. Then find device manager (it is either a tab or a link depending on your OS) and open up the display adaptor menu. One you see your card, right click it and select uninstall. You should restart the computer after it finishes.

I had this same problem with nvidia 9600 video cards in SLI. If you are running SLI, try reducing to one card, and see if the error continues. If so, and you have tried uninstall and reinstall of the drivers, I would consider sending my card back to the manufacturer.
 
If the graphics card is being overclocked by any software, you might want to run it at factory defaults and work back up to see if the new driver changed anything. Otherwise, rolling back the driver from device manager should restore the old one. If all else fails, you can uninstall the driver, again from the device manager, as well as any programs associated with it using the control panel add/remove programs, and then install from the factory driver disk that came with it.
