Im not tech guy by any means let me just announce that. So i got morrowind on steam but the game is mad old and doesnt look very nice. There are mods out there i hear that make it look much much better.

I got some texture packs and something called morrowind graphics extender, problem is, since i got it thru steam the directories are different and i cant seem to get anythign to install correctly.

Can anyone who has this game on steam and installed the mods help me out and let me know which mods are the best ones to get to make this game modernized?

Even if you dont have it on steam but you know of great mods let me know.

Is there a modules folder? If so, try extracting it there. If not, please PM me and I can help you some more.

no modules folder. Its jsut in steamapps common morrowind. Inside that morrowind folder is:

DataFiles
MWUninstall
Saves

Inside datafiles is:
Textures
sounds
Shaders etc.

I put the textures in the textures folders obviously but they didnt seem to work when i open the game. And the graphics extender is something supposedly that makes the game look really good but its an autoinstaller it and when i try to direct it where to install it tells me that its not the morrowind directory....

hmm... well, personally I would just start putting it everywhere, but to keep from screwing anything up, try putting it in your textures folder.

it wont even install since it cant be directed to a valid installation directory

well personally id just try and buy it from amazon.com or .ca
its still the same price and it should eliminate all of those problems.

I installed Morrowind again today and I have to say I still think the graphics still look somewhat decent but I might just be reminiscing of playing it years ago :P

but as far as installing them where did you get them?
and did you check the website you got them from because usually they'll tell you or put you in the right direction.

got no installation instructions and

im not buying it again lol. Spent 11 bucks on it off steam, not going to spend another 15 from amazon.....not worth it.

its well worth it, especially with all of the mod content avalible. not to mention the contstruction set which will allow you to make your own adventures. morrowind was an epic achievement in its time and the game still holds up today. in some ways morrowind is better then oblivion. i love the look and feel of morrowind, its dark and spooky. i loved traveling at night and looking at the sky and swimming. the onething i hate are thouse damn flying things. luckily they are an endangered species and once you kill i think 250 of them they become extinct.

you know what would be awsome? is if bethesda redid morrowind and gave it better graphics and a newer fighting engine. that would be great. or best of all bethesda should make an elderscrolls mmo. make ALL of the provinces and continents in the elder scrolls universe available. that would kick wows ass big time if doneright. i have read all of the morrowind books and lots of oblivion books and there is great potential for something like that. imagine having huge wars against other players, nations facing eachother, or you could have great pve battles, i have lots of good ideas for them.

Morrowind was good but the combat system was the failing point for me. I got very tired of aiming my arrows and only ever getting misses. For example. I'd totally support a revamp, with voice acting and a visual overhaul, but I don't think you'll see it.
