According to Gametrackers, Trubine is now in the 91st percentile! Game server rank is 275!

The love and devotion to Turbine exhibited not only by the eGO members here, but also by the public players who have become regulars on the servers grows daily! I expect to see Turbine in the +95% bracket in just a few more days, at this rate!

Note, that a search on the East Coast servers finds only 3 servers at this moment playing Turbine. One is a RTV server, one is a 2fort/Turbine server... and one is us. There is a reason the server is packed; it's the only real 24/7 Turbine server out there.

Just one more reason for Turbine Lovers to Unite! Turbine is on it's way to being one of the premiere destinations for TF2 fans to hang out! Thanks to everyone who has poured their blood, sweat, tears, and time into this server!

Now, to business:

As you can see, we're still having trouble with Early Morning Duldrums. 2AM-10AM (assuming Central) is still a deadzone. I'm guessing, as that's Midnight Pacific, those hours are when the Pacific Ocean is starting to go to sleep. This means that this is a handicap all servers must overcome, as very few fish play TF2. Anyone who can assist by playing or seeding these hours would move Turbine up the list.

One way to help out is to play for a little bit just after waking up before you go to work. Or seed the server a bit before you go. Either way would push Turbine up the telephone pole straight into the stratosphere!

I will idle overnight and into tomorrow morning :)

Feel free to kick me once its full, I'll have the on my name!

I played today from about 7:30am (Central) to about 10:30 and had a lot of fun. I had never really played turbine that much, but I think I'll definitely keep it on my favorites list now.

I think Gravelpit is what we should be worrying about atm. Let's keep that full, before we start looking for a good ranking.

Loving the dedication, though.

I seeded not Turbine but Arena... all the morning... like since midnight until now... actually In this moment Im still logged in...

I think in the past 4 nights, I've seeded Turbine 3 times. I want to see this server become very popular like the rest!

That dead time is hard to get rid of. If you can push it out to 3 AM then one hour makes a lot of difference. Where you can gain ground though is in the up time, when the server fills back up. The server is full at 11 AM. You want to fill it up at 8 AM At the latest. That only gives you 5 hours down time. Mobilize the East coast people, they can fill it up fast with a little coordination.

Auto cares about his baby. Apparently more than I care for mine. I made a deal with Hex and Mister Adam, I said I would go into Turbine whenever I was waiting for Gravel Pit. But it seems like Gravel Pit always has room, and from what I've seen, Turbine is (almost) always full. Keep it up.

Indeed, this is true.

Any east coasties or centralites who are up at that time and can play would be real credits to team.

And, as I haven't forgotten our friends over the pond, 8AM Central would be 2PM in London, 3PM in Paris, and 5PM in Moscow (if I've read my world clock right). Anyone with afternoons free willing to step up would be doubleplusgood.

As for the other side of the world, I can but hand the baton over to our friends on the Asian continent. I imagine they have better access to the Turbine West Coast server anyway; any who are able to take up the flag 11PM-2AM Tokyo time would also be full of EPIC WIN and AWESOME.

I disagree. I think the main key is that Turbine and Gravel Pit are two completely different map concepts. Turbine is a 2FORT style CTF map, but with short paths between intel rooms which in theory allow lightning caps, and for a heavy to get to the enemy intel relatively quickly as well. It encourages area control and chaos.

Gravel Pit however is a control point map of a different breed. Both sides have to decide on a plan of attack or defense, without any information about the other side. I don't know if you're going to hit B or A, so I just do my best. And it culminates in an epic struggle for C, which requires the defenders to keep the stack clean or else.

But the biggest difference is this: Turbine is easier to attract regulars, because the game play, while varied, is flat enough that I know that a sentry HERE would at least be useful in most game situations.

Gravel Pit, however, is extremely dependant on team compositions for the type and quality of game. NOW we like to scout spam A, then a few people leave and a few join, and NOW we like to rocketspam B, and then a few minutes later we decide to do a split offensive for spies. So you can't guarantee the same type of gameplay every time you log in :D

TL;DR: I think you're aiming for a different type of customer with Gravel Pit... the techniques I could use for Turbine, which I learned and adapted from Atten's for Valvemaps, I don't think work so well on the type of customers attracted to Gravel Pit. You just need to figure out what works :D

One other thought I had about the difference between Turbine and Gravel Pit, just after I posted, is this: You can make a pretty fun game of 4-6 people on Turbine. Gravel Pit gets pretty sparse until 10 people or so, due to the fact that the A and B points take so long to cap alone and are 20-30 seconds apart depending on class.

On a side note, whenever I go to play Turbine and find that it's full, I go to Gravel pit, and I encourage all other Turbine Lovers to do so as well. (I play Gravel Pit, but I have "Autojoin when a slot is open" set on Turbine :P)

Turbine gets an A+!
News from the western front!

According to Gametrackers, Turbine is now in the 97th percentile, at a rank of 88!

As you can see, our worst time is still 8AM central, as Frank Booth wisely spoke. It starts to fall at about 4AM central, and doesn't restabilize until 12-1PM central. Anyone who is available between 4AM-12PM central (you use your own world clocks :D) would get at least one free invisible imaginary eGO shaped cookie.

The best news on this graph, is at no time is the server empty! Our deepest pit is 5 players.

If you peek at the weekly map:

You can see how important not-being-empty is. The one night (Thursday) when we were actually empty... it took nearly 2-3 hours to get rebooted, whilst non-empty servers start picking right back up the next hour. I'm sure I don't have to explain why an empty server might stay empty :D

So good job Turbine Lovers! I dare say we've got the bestest most awesomest Turbine server in the world, and it's due to all of your efforts in keeping it full and hoppin'.

And remember... if you can't get into Turbine... Gravel Pit rocks *wink*
