^He was announced dead.

thats not funny....show some respect.

Im going to go out on a limb here and say this is a publicity stunt, or a tax evasion. Because 1. His farewell tour was supposed to start in July (badass way to start thriller, huh?) 2. He was in India to avoid financial troubles.

Michael, if this IS a publicity stunt, YOU ROCK ten times harder than before!

Guys lets keep the thread clean and going in the right direction...

Dang, sure he was a bit... odd in his later years, but Thriller was one of my favorite albums ever :\

R.I.P. sir

Its completely official his agent Qunicy Jones had said it is true.

Associated press article

Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the "King of Pop" and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. He was 50.

I don't understand why everyone is broken up about this. During his trial everyone hated him and now that he's dead everyone loves him?

Well here is the deal. MJ was a superstar and one that has been in the spotlight since he was a kid. There are a lot of people who have grown up with him...and despite on how many people feel, he has drastically changed our culture.

That being said. I'm actually quite cynical about the whole thing and I'm relatively unfazed by his passing.

we will miss him. people liking him or not. he was, in fact, a celebrity(and he deserved).
he sang pretty well and how about the dance? some people say that he was the best(sure do).

lets show some respect, please.

If he was hated or not, he was a person. If you went through as much pain as he has gone through today, you wouldn't want people making jokes about you.

30,000 children die everyday in Africa from poverty. He was a person, nonetheless, but there are bigger problems out there than 'the king of pop'.

He was more than just the king of pop, as much as he may have had his problems, he saw to it to help people.

Yes, a good portion of his later life can be considered controversial, but there was something undoubtedly special about him. The man created something, the like of which was never seen in this world prior. And probably will never be seen from here on out.

When I was younger, I was a huge fan of Michael. Getting older, coupled with the controversy surrounding him, I just tossed him up to "weird" but talented. And had stopped caring until I'd heard about his death.

It's strange. I never thought about Michael Jackson, I don't listen to his music anymore, haven't for years. But knowing that he's gone really does come as a shock. He had his place in the world. A weird place, no doubt, but a place only he could fill without question.

Rest in peace Michael.
