PCI Audio Through HDMI?

I disagree with both statements based on my own personal experience with these cards. I think sound quality is fine ( I do NOT consider myself an "audiofile"). GPU "processing power" loss will be minimal on his card.

Your opinion means little (sorry to be frank) but any decent sound card's quality will blow away any onboard sound or in this case the HD sound on an ATI card. You don't need to be an audiofile to notice a difference.

After spending over $100 on a top of the line sound card you can bet I sure as heck would be making use of it. I'm sure the OP feels the same.

I don't mind you being frank (anyone can be rude over the "Internets"...lol)

I agree with using a sound card you spent $100 for. Sound quality is matter of opinion regardless what hardware you have and how much you spend. Have you heard ATI HD audio 5.1 - 7.1 (just curious if you have had success with sound output over HDMI from your X-fi)?

Anyway, If you read his original post he wanted to achieve Audio and Video output with ONE HDMI cable. This has been determined not to be possible/successful. http://www.avsforum.com

As per my sig (check the card) yes I have most certainly heard ATI's HD sound. There is not 1 thing wrong with it, fantastic quality really.

However any decent sound card (even low-mid range ones) sound vastly superior and high end cards... it's no contest. I am by no means an audiofile either.

I have read his OP, I in fact was one of the few people helping him all along and not coming in afterward and making post such as yours. I won't say I was one of the people to tell the OP he couldn't do what he was asking without a second cable.

Sorry for seeming a tad "rude" but people that want to make post such as yours (you are not alone) really should read through the thread a bit before making claims or statements that have little relevance or truth.

I know I'm not alone...

you are doing the same thing as I. Responding to a post that had nothing relevant to add to this thread... how ironic.

I simply offered solutions and a few opinions that are/were relevant to the problem.

didn't mean to hijack the thread with petty bickering :(

IM DONE
