novint falcon?

Hey my birthday is on July 2nd and I can't think of anything to get, until I saw that epic novint falcon bundle for $150. I am not sure if I would want this because I don't really know of how it feels in game; or if it would be for me. So I was wonder for those of you tf2 players (that's why I'm posting this here) who were at John's house for the party using the falcon, how was the it? Would you recommend me asking for this? How did it make playing the game?

Yeah I know. I've heard his KD is roughly 4:1 but that doesn't really mean anything. He could be a camper or an engineer. Here's wishing luck to everyone participating

Is it true that you have to buy their version of games for the thing to work? If I already have TF2, will I have to buy the 'falcon-version' of TF2?

just want to point out the current 150 bundle also comes with a key to the Orange Box :O. so if you ever want a spare account or have a friend who needs it, that could also be a reason why. It also includes a bunch of random games.

And Deadly Bunny, all the Valve supported games have been updated with beta falcon support, so no.

Other games like FEAR you just need the drivers, which they include.

I really want the $150 bundle. It's a great deal, especially considering that just the Falcon alone is listed as about $180 (I think) and it comes with the Orange Box and a slew of other games (as Noobkiller said).

But one of the Novint guys said that the special is only running until Friday or so, which means I have to kind of guess on either my wallet or my skill, because I don't think that the Contest will be set up in time for Friday.

That said, I'd also love to hear more from people who have used it. If it's as great as I've been hearing, I'll probably take the deal and get myself one.

If you don't mind the language, here is an unofficial review on it that some guy posted on YouTube. He made a pretty cool mod for it too, attaching a Gamecube controller piece to it to make it feel more pistol-like.

EDIT: I just bought one after watching that video. I'll let you know how I like it when it gets here.

@Benwen, I bought the Falcon with the Orange Box, so it may be a special version of HL2 designed for the Falcon that it comes with. In any case, they were sold out of the Falcon-only version, and besides, I wanted the pistol grip. :P

Well, in all fairness this video was made in January. Also, late in June, there was an update that added support for TF2, Portal, and Episodes 1&2.

Hopefully whatever issues he was having in the video have been rectified by now.

Also, the Falcon now comes with Orange Box, so I would imagine they are certain the games are supported properly.

Half-Life 2 is NOT supported. But if you download the Haptics-Life 2 Drivers (free) from novint.com you can play HL2 just fine. The rest of the Orange Box works just fine.

So I've played with the Falcon a while now and I've fiddled with the settings (a must, trust me) and I'm REALLY happy with it. For starters, the Falcon does so much more than I'd imagined. You can actually feel shapes and textures, something I'd figured had been beefed up a bit for promos. But it really works.

More on topic, Team Fortress was dreamy. I can feel the shells being loaded into my shotgun and the weight of rockets in my Launcher. It's really not something that you can describe well; you have to experience it. All I can say is buy a Falcon. You'll never feel games the same way again.

Oh, also, I was pretty terrible at TF2 with it at first, but I'm already getting better. Still, I can tel lthat it's going to be a long time until my Falcon skills are on-par with my mouse skills, especially with sniping. So, forewarning to any powergamers out there.

I just bought one and absolutely love it. Just be warned that you need to adjust the sensitivity settings and calibrate it quite a bit before it works well with TF2. :P

That said, I highly recommend it.
