Gaming Mouse and Keyboard Worth it?!?

that's a little more controversial. Some people swear by them, some don't. I'd focus on mouse first, then look around at mouse pads.

Personally, I use a free mouse pad from a vendor at work. I've used other cheap ones and hated them, but this one i like.

I've been using the same mousepad for like 10 years.. Feels better than on a wood desk IMO.

I use a Razor Diamond Back 3G mouse. Razer says only to use them on their mouse pads, and I agree, I used a standard mouse pad and it was terrible. Their exactMat is anodized aluminum and is amazing. It has 2 sides, one that is more smooth glass and a control side which is a little more coarse than the smooth side but is for people who use a smaller sensitivity level.

Yeah, I used my G9 on my desk for a while. I didn't like the desk scratching up the mouse feet so I bought a Steelseries Qck, and wow, I love it! Mouse pads make everything so much smoother.

Got a G5 myself and Ill swear by it. I saw great improvements in my game after I got it and got used to it. And as far as durability, Im not sure how its still holding up. Its been thrown more than once. I knock it off my desk regularly and have spilled some Mt Dew on it. As far as gaming keyboards I personally wouldnt recommend them unless you have really got the use for the displays and such. I still type with my keyboard under my desk so there is no use for backlights since I cant see the thing anyways.

funny, i play with some wired optical logitech mouse i bought on sale for 8 bucks.
if it actually makes a difference, maybe i'll look into getting a gaming mouse when i decide to start building my new rig

Some recommendations for mouses are either Razorhead, or Logitech.

Keyboards I HIGHLY suggest the Saitek Cyborg, expensive, but worth it.

Gaming mouse, definitely. They help more than you know. Go with Logitech or Razer. Both are great and it really just comes down to which one feels more comfortable in your hand. I had a logitech G5 and loved it. It wore out and gave me problems after a few years. Now I have a Razer DeathAdder and I like it better, but mainly just for the feel of it. The quality is about equal between the two companies, although I like logitech software a bit better.

As far as a gaming keyboard goes. I don't really understand the concept at all. As long as the keys do what they're supposed to the way they're supposed to do it, then your keyboard is as good as it's gonna get. If you want back lit keys, or a different style of key, that's fine.
I have a G11 "gaming keyboard" and honestly I don't know what makes is a "gaming keyboard" other than 18 macro keys that I've never used.

As others as said, focus on the mouse before getting a keyboard. A good mouse will make a big difference not only with your performance, but how comfortable your hand is after playing so long.

In regards to the keyboard, some features you wanna look out for are: illuminated keys, a switch to disable the windows key (it sucks when you accidentally hit your windows key while gaming) and maybe some media controls such as volume.

I have a Razer Deathadder.
It's great.
Copperhead looked to small and a little uncomfortable to me.

Well they also have faster response times(1000Hz polling for Razers) andanti-ghosting. Personally, it doesn't make a difference to me as I've never experienced ghosting and the increased polling rate only helps with my mouse, so I'm fine with my Dell keyboard.

I have a Razer Diamondback and a Saitek Eclipse II. I thought gaming mouses and keyboards were a load of phooey, but they make my general computing experience a lot better because they're both extremely comfortable.

People always talk about graphics cards and processors, but the three most important components of your computer setup are the keyboard, monitor and the mouse. You use the every day and all day even when you aren't gaming, so don't skimp.
