Vista = Bad; Windows 7 = Good

Its not that I am debating over the superiority of one OS to another. All I am saying is that if you are planning on building a new computer, you should get the windows 7 RC and pre-order the full release for a highly discounted price.
 
windows 7 is just a optimised windows vista, and if you get vista now you get a free upgrade depending on which vista you get

laymens terms:

vista home premium>vista 7 premium

so on so fourth
 
Hmmmmm... I think I will upgrade to 7 in 2014 once XP is given the boot. Or when games stop supporting it, which will be very bad.


IT WILL BE A DARK DAY WHEN XP ISN'T SUPPORTED ANYMORE.

Really? "Vista = Bad; Windows 7 = Good " That sounds like superiority to me.

And saying Vista is a joke? I can't believe some people are still saying crap about Vista. Its a perfectly fine OS. If you wanted your thread to go over a little better I wouldn't have named it what you did.
Also, I'm going to have to go with Jv on this one. I'm dual-booting with Vista and Windows 7 right now and there is not a huge difference between the two. Give me some insight on how 7 is so much better than Vista.
 
The biggest difference is RAM usage...
But when you have 8GB of the stuff, who really cares?
Data transfer is SLIGHTLY faster, but even that depends on your RPM...
All it is, is Windows Vista which uses slightly less RAM with a wallpaper on the front of it.
 
Ok... so the thread name was misleading, but you all are reading it... aren't you? Again, I was merely trying to save those people building new PCs some money by telling them they can get the Windows 7 RC and then pre-order the full version at a greatly discounted price. My hatred for Vista is a personal vendetta because I worked at Circuit City (RIP) as a PC repair technician.

That is a reason to go to vista..

But you're basically saying, if you're going to buy a new computer (Which would run Vista with ease) get windows 7... ?

Are the other benefits then customizing the UI ? Get a tweak pack and voila ! Vista = W7....
 
Just decided to switch from the XP x64 that I've had for years to the W7 RC1.
I definitely like it better than vista, and maybe even XP.

well apparently you have not used windows 7 much. Windows 7 might be based off of vista, i mean microsoft has admitted that they basically just took the bad things out of vista and added a bunch of good things such as aero snap and IE 8, etc. But windows 7 is not simply a knock off copy of vista. Windows 7 is something different from vista. 7 is not a resource hog, 7 has little compatability issues, and 7 is much much much easier to use.

And to say windows 7 is the same as vista is in my opinion slightly ignorant.

Vista is bad, I've had nothing but troubles with Vista since it came out. Makes Microsoft look horrible, hopefully Windows 7 will be alot less irritating than Vista is. It more than likely will since it's just a modified XP.
 
Vista-64? I'll run Vista-128!

Yeah! I'm running Vista-64 bit Ultimate. I'm also running 8gigs of RAM and booting my OS on a pair of 139gig Raptors in a RAID-0.* :scared:

On a slightly more serious note; what I have noticed are those who complain about Vista are usually running a "lesser" edition (like Home Basic) or are running it on a more "normal" PC (2gigs ram, 2.4ghz chip, 7200rpm HDD, or something sane like that). I suspect that Microsoft didn't fully product test when they trimmed down the OS to the lower priced "lesser" packages. I also suspect that the reason myself, Bad Dude, and the couple other "you built a what?" system owners here are running Vista stable because our systems could run AmigaOS stable. Of course MS downplayed these elements when they rolled out Vista; instead touting it as an easy upgrade from XP.

On top of these errors. I think Microsoft did a horrid job with the PR for Vista. Just look at the Mojave commercials. If you have to do that, then you also need to change your hiring criteria for your marketing department.

I'm not impressed until I see 6x SSDs in RAID 0.

My friend has that and a $600 x16 RAID controller with 512 cache. He gets transfer speeds of 1.2GB's+.
