PS3 - GTA IV Messed Up?

Well, I think that the GTA IV that I bought for my PS3 is messed up or something. The reason why I think this is because when I played my game CoD:WaW on it I got achievements and I was told that all PS3 games had those as well. But, for my GTA game, I do not have any achievements even though I have already finished the game as well. Anyone know how to fix this or why this might be? Thanks.

The game does not yield achievements or 'trophies' as they are called on the PS3 if you have a game already in progress. The patch that brought trophies to GTA IV is not compatible with old saves so in order to get them you need to start a new save.

The trophies/achievements are not retroactive. You have to re-earn them. Why? Because life sucks.

Because the trophies were implemented months after the game's release.

You have to download the patch, it does not come with the game. If you don't have the patch, you aren't gonna get the trophies.

If you have your PS3 connected to a wired/wireless network, when you start the game it should prompt you to DL a latest patch.
