Local cable unpluged

My PC has been giving me a bubble saying a local network cable is unplugged(not sure exactly but it was something about the cable being unplugged). It does not affect my Internet as I can still use the browser and play multiplayer games. I do not use a wireless connection and my cable is not unplugged. I am not sure what to try. Any ideas what might be causing this? Itunes has done this before but Itunes is not the cause this time.

I would restart your computer then go into network settings in control panel then go to Local Area Connection and see if its connected then click repair that should do it

Have you installed anything new lately? Sometimes certain programs will install virtual network adapters. Check and make sure you only have one "Local Area Connection" connection. Unless your computer has two NICs then you should only have one Local Area Connection listed.

I tried both of those but none work and random crashing is happening now. It crashes randomly with no warning.

The "local cable unplugged" notification is harmless. If you updated/installed/removed any sort of motherboard driver recently, this is what's causing the problem.

Theres an option (Not quite sure where, I'm on Windows 7) where you right click the Local Area Connection then uncheck "Show Notification when Connection is Limited" or something similar like that.

I'd ignore it. However, for your crashes, could you give us more information? Did you install/remove any software/hardware recently? Anything that could cause the crash?
