I own a cheap gaming headset but I prefer to use the sound on my speakers as I have a decent sound system. The problem is the headphones on my headset tend to obscure my hearing so I usually wear the headset around my neck and angle the microphone up towards my mouth.

Does anyone know of any headsets that will alleviate this problem? I've tried looking for a headset with no earphones, but I'm not sure if those even exist. Plan B is to buy a desktop mic and duct tape it to my head :crying:

I have a pair very similar to that and I don't plug in the headphone line, but just wearing the earphones alone is a bit uncomfortable and obstructs my hearing a little.

Well then honestly you could just go with a boom mic that sits on your desktop. They have some pretty good ones out there that have excellent sound quality. I'm not sure which one my friend is using, but he plays from about 10 feet away from his mic and the sound quality is excellent. You can hear him as if he were using a headset.

I have the same problem the ear part hurts my ears after about an hour so i usually run desktop sound and use just the mic, but i haven't been able to find a way to do that for source games

is it even possible?
