LucasArts bring classic games to Steam
Over the U.S. holiday weekend, LucasArts' Twitter feed chirped up and mentioned that "old school fans" can expect an exciting announcement later today in regards to a new project. The tweet confirmed that this upcoming news would not be relating to a new intellectual property, which gels with earlier rumblings of potential remakes from LucasArts' deep back catalog of classic games.

Amazing news coming Monday! Super excited! You have no idea how tough it is not to start yelling about it! But it's secret! Until Monday!

Okay, we will do hints. It is awesome news for our old school fans. (anything more direct might get me in trouble)

I did say nothing to do with new IP people! Keep guessing though. I might have to retweet the guy who figures it out...

As of five hours ago, the feed confirmed that a retweet to the thread has correctly guessed what the announcement would be, and promised to reveal all around 12 hours from now.

Update: The official list of games is announced! Here are the first games LucasArts will be releasing to Valve's Steam service this coming Wednesday, July 8th.

!?!?!? Battlefront II!!! I've been playing that all week on xbox! w00t!
 
so Battlefront II will be in the steam store? and we can just buy it from there?
 
I wouldn't call those classics. I'd call those "slightly aged Xbox games" for the most part.
 
I was really hoping for Jedi Academy, I loved that game and I can't find my old copy. I've been searching on and off all month >.<
 
ah when they said classic lucusarts game i way hoping for Dark Forces, Jedi Night and Jedi Academy. and some Tie fighter FTW
 
The Dark Forces and Jedi Knight series were the best, along with the x-wing/tie fighter series.
and Battlefront series............and anything that involves along time ago in a galaxy far far away.
 
Indeed, DF/JK and X-Wing/Tie Fighter were the best. BF is definitely nice too.
 
Too bad I can't just register my CD key for Battlefront II. My disc has been scratched for years and I've wanted to play it :/
 
Nice, Ill be having at look at these. I like the Star Wars games, however I haven't played the other games. I'll have to check them out.
 
I'm waiting for all the old adventure games from Lucas Arts those will be awesome!
Also some of the old star wars games would be cool too I have the cd's around somewhere but they probably don't work with Vista :/
 
Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast was A classic.
Star Wars Battlefront, not sure.
I hope they will add Star Wars The Old Republic on Steam.

If they are humans, they'll probably add something so people can register their CD key, I hope.
