need help

lately I've been playing CS:S and everything is fine but eventually(or at the start of the game when I join) my ping sky rockets to 600-800 when it normally sits on a good 30-40. Can someone explain why this may be happening? If so please PM me I'd like to get to the bottom of it.

Well i mean is it just at the beginning like right when you join? because if it is thats normal it happens to me all the time.

idk if its my connection(which normally always works) thing is this weekend i went too see family and took my laptop and ever since i got back i cant play any of my steam games. my steam client is updated and all so i have no idea whats wrong

restart your router and everything including connection to router and see if that fixes anything. I have personally never had this problem but it does not seem normal considering you said you usually have about 30-40 ping; usually at the beginning the servers do lag which is normal but thats just the servers. About the fact that you cannot play any steam games, have you tried restarting steam and your computer? if your getting that message where it says that the game is unavailable at this time a restart of the computer and steam usually fixes the problem or just waiting a while.

Yeah that happens to me too sometimes. But it might be that you have an app on while you are playing. or its just your internet connection. What i would do is restart your router by turning it off, then take out all the plugs and then count to 5. then put it all back and turn it on.

Err if ur far away from where server is ur ping is higher
