I'd need to see your full system specs to try and figure out why you have such low FPS.

Dude, P4 1.8GHz will have a stroke loading TF2...
Upgrade CPU to P4 3.06 GHz and you should see an improvment
Frankly I suggest dumping that PC and getting a newer dual cored one...
Get a Celeron D @ 2.4GHz that should be able to cope with TF2

Sorry, but the only way your going to get even close to playable FPS with that proccesor. You can't even take it to dx8 because it is already on it... o.o
I'm pretty sure that proccesor didn't even meet the original min requirements. And the requirements have gone up a lot since then.

lol with this computer i have now, i barely make recommended. But im getting new parts on Thursday.
Anyways, i think your option is to upgrade computers. i know you can put together something that would run TF2 just amazingly, for about 400-500 bucks.

There is a good guide to building a budget PC that will be able to handle TF2 with ease. It's a list of all the parts you will be needing and it clocks in at just under $500. And after checking out a few of the links, it looks like the price on some of the hardware has even gone down in price! So if you get lucky, you can probably throw this computer together for around $425 or less!
