Attention Rock Band drummers:

rock band drummers have nothing on us real drummers :P

instead of buying an xbox and rockband, buy a real drumkit. if you get a used kit, its about the same price and it's loads more fun.

well actually if you can play rock band drum kit, then you can play drums in real life, you would just have to learn the theory.

Im a drummer/percussionist/pianist and from my experience anyone who can do expert on rock band drums can handle themselves on a real drum with some theory and technical experience.

oh yeah definetly. unlike the guitar, the drums (and vocals obviously since you're ACTUALLY singing) on rockband are pretty realistic.

but theres still no substitute for the real thing. the problem with rockband is that you only hit the notes shown on the screen, there's no room for improvization like on real drums (besides the parts where it lets you do a fill... but most people on rockband just hit random stuff with no regard to wether it sounds good or not)

when I first played rockband, it was hard for me. I was playing the songs I actually can play on a drumkit in real life, like Tom Sawyer, but i was still failing the songs because I wasn't watching the screen when I was playing them. the songs are different on rockband than they are in real life, due to the limitations of the controller.

and the layout of a real kit is a bit different so they might have trouble with that.
