so. this is like the bajillionth thread i have made about my computer. now i have once again decided to take a different path. And this time it is sticking because i currently have the RAM and the CPU, and Mobo arrives tomorrow morning at around 10am CST.

Ram - its 4GB G skill DDR2 800.

Video Card - HD Radeon 4850

PSU - still have to order

HDD - 74GB Raptor Main
320GB Slave

I recently upgraded to the XFX version of the HD Radeon 4850. It's a really nice card. Runs all my games wonderfully. The only con I have is that it's a massive card, and barely fix in my mid-ATX tower case, but that can be expected with higher level cards. Nice Build!

I've talked to him about it before and he says that is what he wants to do down the road, but he already has a dual-core CPU laying around so why not use it until he has the cash to get a quad? There is no use in just letting a full computer lay around not built just so he can wait for the quad-core to come around :)

yeah, and part of having the dual core lying around, i have had that CPU since January of this year. i bought it when it was a killer deal on newegg, and for now, while im trying to get out of the single core phase, a dual core will do me just fine. Yes Quad core AM3 *WILL* come down the road, which is part of the reason for the motherboard, but like i said, while trying to get out of the Single Core, AGP era, a dual core will be a massive upgrade for me.
 
use that dual until you need to upgrade. should get another 7-12 months depending on the games you want to play. by then the quads will be under 100 and the 6 cores will be out.
 
Dual Cores are still the "sweet spot" as far as games are concerned, that coupled with a 4850 should last you a while Arn0t!

Also since you're in the market for a PSU (says you still need to buy), i'd like to recommend...

Corsair makes some amazing PSU's, you pay a premium for the quality, but a PSU is one thing you should NEVER cheap out on ;)
 
nice that MOBO is the same as mice and it ROCKS
also i got the phenom II X2 but thats beside the point
