Here my specs of my computer,

-i7 920 OC 3.5Gh
-XFX hd 4870 1Gb ddr5 Oc max setting
-750 watt psu
-80 Go HD
-Msi x56pro
-3 Gb ddr3 1333mhz
-22 inch dell monitor
-5.1 logitech surround speakers
-G5 mouse

Am thinking about buying another XFX 4870 for crossfire but i don't know if its really useful.

Am running cod 4 at 125 fps (didnt tested higher) and am thinking about gameplay performance if i add another one to reach 250 fps if i would be able to kill more?

Thank you for posting comments.

Atm, I use Crossfire with AMD Radeon 4850 with 512 DDR3 and the graphics for the game I play (CS:S) performs better than what i had before; i would recommend to use Crossfire so that you can enhance the performance in your game.

You probably will not be able to notice a difference. For one, it doesn't scale perfectly so it won't be from 125 to 250, it will be from 125 to around 200 most likely(depending on game, driver version, etc). If you do notice a difference between 200 and 125, it will be very very slight and will not increase your in-game performance. I recommend saving your money and buying maybe a better hard drive(80GB is kind of small, you can get a fast 1TB drive for $90), a better monitor, a nice mouse if your into that sort of thing, nice speakers, or more RAM(I don't know how much you have). Or you could always save your money and buy a DirectX 11 card when they come out in a few months(Although it will be much longer before DirectX 11 games take off).

Well since am not buying every piece that came out each month , am buying a strong comp that will be able to stay strong for a year or 2.

framerate differences can't be noticed above 60 fps, so you won't really see the difference, it's only worth buying one for future-proofing of the next games. Also the with 22" monitor you are using you're probably using 1680x1050 which means one would be enough for the games you play right now.

I would definitely go crossfire. You can never have too many video cards.

You can, if your system does not take the full advantage of it and especially the software controlling it. Tough at the moment the only bottleneck is his system is his graphics card. Well in practically all i7 systems.

You would probably notice more performance if you upgraded to 6GB DDR3 1600(a kit with tight latencies, like 6-6-5-18) than if you added another graphics card. It doesn't make sense to upgrade your graphics card now anyways, because when ATi launches their 5800's in ~2 months, the price on the 4870 will drop by like $75. Since you can run any game right now no problem with that setup, you don't need to upgrade now. When the prices drop you can add another for cheaper and you will still be able to run any game for years to come.

But anyways, to answer your question, no, adding another 4870 will not help you get more kills. 125 FPS is plenty.

ya i would go for ram or a hardrive in your case ram is cheap for the preformce increass you get from it and i have no friggen clue how you can work with olny a 80 gb hardrive im pushing 59 gb in just my steam folder and a other 16 gb for adobe CS4 and my media collection is a bit more than twice the size of your hardrive.

and dont get me started on the TB taken up by all of the lossless flac files and the pro tools and FinalCut projects that i have on here from work.

Thank you for all your help, actually am not a big downloader and with a limit of 100 gb per month on my connection , a bigger HD is useless for me , but with the new series of ati make me thing its will be a great investisement in 5800 x2.
