I put it all together recently and pretty much bought the best of the last generation stuff... it keeps my costs lower but still gives me a powerful machine to work with. Half Life 2 (and by extension, DoD: Source) runs really well. Overall I am very pleased. But, i still drool over some of the other machines I have seen on this thread, some of you guys have amazing systems!
 
Here are my specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo (2.33 GHz each)
EVGA nVidia 7600 GTX
My old HDD (60 GB), slaved to my new one (which is a 200 GB Seagate SATA)
2x 80mm case fans, no idea what the heat sync is (it was already in the mother-board when we bought it)
and a High speed DVD-RW.

Rounds out to about $800.

Pretty good for the money.
