Well, seeing Gumball's recent thread and having issues with this myself I have decided to make a thread where people can tell what there name is, it's origin and how to pronounce it. I shall go first. I am liking the dictionary format soo...

Jimmeh: (Jimm-ay) This name originated back in grade school, when do to the auto-correct function of Microsoft word, my last name was corrected to Jimmy, and was announced thus to the entire school. After this my friends would never let it go. I was from then on, and even to this day at some extents as Jimmy. Now, being Canadian and gaming on the internet I would always get some jokers who thought Canadian jokes are a funny thing to make. And after everything I said they would then type "Eh?" So finally really creative person started calling me Jimm-eh? and the name stuck, and now that is what I am know as to this day :)

Now it's all of your turns :) I want the proper pronunciation and the history of the name!

lol yay!

pronounced: GumBaLLmachine

back when i played BF2 i went by BetaKahn and when BF2142 came out they wouldn't let me use BetaKahn so i was sitting in my grandpas garage and i saw an old Gumballmachine and i was like! my names gonna be gumball but just gumball was taken so i added machine and ever sence that ive stuck with gumballmachine. NOT GUMBA lol

Weaponx3rd - Weapon -X- 3rd(Third)

I've been called many creative things....

Chocolate Villain.......... Villain...... Villain.........VILLAIN...... VILLAIN!!!!1!

Not to be confused with Vanilla :P

Dr.Compton
Oh boy, Story time

I play a game called Warcraft 3 (RTS That WOW is based off of) and thinking I was being creative, I made the name Comper(Insane) I was 9 at the time, and misspelt computer, cut me some slack. Eventually my clan members on Warcraft started calling me lots of names (Comper, Compton, Comptonias, Compther you name it, they said it) When I bought TF2, I got the medic class and was dubbed Dr.Compton on steam, so Dr.Compton is my Steam name.

My name is Colonel McMeow

Its pronounced: Kernel Mc-Meow (Colonel McMeow)

NOT Colonel McCao, I have had plenty of people call me Colonel McCao or McCow (Thats not how you pronounce it.)

People make mistakes but hopefully people will see this

The origin is interesting (at least I think so) I was over at a friends house, he, I, and a couple of friends were having an all-nighter and I was really disoriented (tired) so I got one of my friends' binder, took all of his papers out, erased his name and wrote "Colonel McMeow" in its place, (When I'm tired my creativity sparks, I thought of the name almost instantly).

He didn't seem to happy about it, but we've been friends for 5+ years and he let it go.

P.S. When he found out, I would not stop laughing. :P:laugh:

Mr1ntel = Mister Intel

Well.... IMO Intel>AMD but thats not where I got my name from, kinda :P I just pulled the name out of thin air :confused1:Fine, fine It was partly influenced by me liking Intel processors

Osok- O-SOCK. It means one shot one kill. But I more so like the sound of the name Osok rather then its meaning : ).

Oh jeeze remember time....uh lets see( digging back into the archive on this one) This account was given to me by a close friend a long time ago. His in game name was Osok, and he said it would mean alot to him if I kept the Osok name. So I did. After some minor modifications I arrived at OS(+)K.

=(eGO)=OS(+)K-TR

Wally_Higgins

Pronounced: Wall-E lol People call me willy all the time and I dont see how they can discombobulate WALLY!

Oh man lets see back in the good ol days of battlefield 1942, I would play alot with bots and name was something retarded and when I would Tab to see my score there would be all these english and german names. So I sat for awhile and I came up with Wally Higgins, dont know how or why that name came up. Then I started playing DOD at a net cafe with some buddies and I used that name, Played battlefield vietnam, BF2, and BF2142 with that name. It has stuck with me ever since then. Some of my friends still call me Wally or just Higgins. I dont know if this will get me in trouble but when I first started playing DOD:S at home I jumped on an eGO server I believe and my name was Wally Mo F'in Higgins. The F'in was spelled out with *, I hadnt played in a looooong time, there was a clan that dubbed me that cause I would always sneak up on them or dominate them, I wasnt in the clan.

Just like it sounds.

S F

Started using it in CS 1.5 and I've stuck with it. I have absolutely no idea what it means.

well i dont know when i came up with *Dakine*Reaper
well our grandpa (KrzyMoke) Got us back into steam
soo He Had a group called *DaKine* so we all joined and i thought of the grim reaper so i took off reaper and ended up with *Dakine*Reaper :D

OUCH: (OW-CH) Originated from Day of Defeat 1.5 (Valve days). When my brother and friends would go to lans and play DOD, The Specialist, and Battlefield Series. I would love going on killing sprees and yell out "OUCH", everytime i would kill them, and stuck with each of us ever since. So i have used it as my in-game name.

Quaffer: one who quaffs (it does not rhyme with wafer, it rhymes with offer.)

quaff  –verb (used without object)
1. to drink a beverage, esp. an intoxicating one, copiously and with hearty enjoyment.

I was looking for something unique. I read a pasage about someone quaffing a drink and the name sort of resonated with me.

KUR"D"T_COBAIN yes its got a "d" and i didnt mispell it. Thats how the Nirvana Frontman spelt his name. He wanted the "D" cos germans spelt it that way..
so dont call me KURDET its just pronounced as Kurt.

Un4Gvn
Pronounced- Un-For-Given

Meaning - In the pre-Steam ages, it meant the GodFather of all HLDS games. Post-Steam definitions vary. Mainly meaning the pwner of all Steam games.
Can be used as a verb. ie. "Man, that other DoD guy just Un4Gvn'ed me in the face."
Also can be used as an descriptive word. ie. "One of these days I'm gonna pwn this whole Un4Gvn DoD Division."
Or as a noun. ie "Un4Gvn is a beast!"

I've been using this same name, since the beginning about 15 years ago. I've played and beta tested all the hlds games.
In all my years as a gamer, clan member, and/or leader.....I have never come across a group like this.
U guys r0x0r my b0x0rs.

superduck: pronounced, well, superduck. It ain't hard.

I used to be an insurance agent with Aflac. They released a commercial starring the duck dressed up as a superhero. My avatar shows the plush toy version of the duck in costume. A group I'm in set me up with some basic moderator access to our website and superduck was assigned to me as a username. When I joined eGO and was trying to come up with a name I remembered this one and used it.

Literally Storm Brother - Pronounced: STURM BROODER

Sturm not Strom. S.T.U.R.M. Stir+M, or Stoor+M for the fanatics.

I liked the name Sturm since I was young. My dad was a tanker in the US Army and he loved military history. So I was way into the German Military. Still am. I also read the Dragon Lance novels and definitively wanted something to go with Sturm. We had a huge party and rented a projection screen around 2000?. We projected the Auburn/Alabama game, the Iron Bowl, onto the biggest wall we could find. It was AWESOME. The players were life size!

Anyway after the game my wife and I watched Star Wars with Lucas' commentary on and he mention how he came up with Darth Vader from the German Dark Father. After a little research I hit on Sturm Bruder. The End.

Beastie (pretty easy to pronounce.)

I got my name from my Freshman year in high school when i used to go by "Skippy the bush kangaroo", well anyways my best bro anthony was walking down the hall sigging the song Intergalactic, i joined in and took up the name Beastie.

beastie-boys.jpg

Beastie Boys own.

My name is a Stephen Lynch referrence. Mr. Lynch is a singing comedian, and one of his albums is titled "The Craig Machine." Contrary to popular belief, my name is not Craig. I picked this name because I had no idea what to use, and it was 3 am. I was listening to this guy, and BAAM! Just like that....
