Hey guys I got a new laptop from work and I cant seem to run DOD Steam.... the laptop is a Compaq nc440 specs as follows:
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 CPU
T7200 @ 2.00GHz
997MHz. .99GB of RAM

Steam opens up but during the loading sequence the screen goess blank (although I can hear the sound) and then it stops ...

listed below is the error message I got...

Might be the processor. Source doesn't like running with alot of mobile intels.
See if you can run a regular half-life 1 or equivalent mod.

That has nothing to do with drivers. You should try, rebooting the system, checking your BIOS settings, and make sure video BIOS and RAM caching are disabled (if you are unable to run it after reboot). Also, try closing some of the unused applications that are running while you are trying to play.

Or, it may be just faulty memory, that just can't hold anything at a certain place, but it's unlikely. If you are going to make any changes to your BIOS, make sure you have a backup.

Your onboard video probably cant handle it. Your processor and ram speed are up to par, but your video card cant handle it.

You probably have to turn down some settings to use onboard videoliek that - such as physics / shadows etc. But having memory referenced like that either means it was outside of the allocated memory space, or that the memory at that location is possibly dammaged.
You can find memory testing programs that will compute prime numbers for a while and count the errors. This should test your CPU as well. No matter which progrma you get the point is that you can run tests to check for RAM consistancy. I would reccoment running one of those tests.
