over the past year or so ive been very negative to WoW, saying its dumb and stupid. so 2 days ago i tried it out and found it pretty fun. what im asking is it worth it? i played maplestory around 2 years ago and got VERY addicted. will it be the same with WoW? and i heard something that you get exp when your offline too?

Unless its been changed. I dont think you get exp when you're offline and its just got downright lame unless you just wanna pvp for fun. person vs. person in case you dont know it. WoW is requiring so much more than Maplestory >.<

Oh Btw, if you're willing to pay $15 for one month. I have an account still. Lvl 80 already just putting it out there in case you wanna try it for one month. But I havent played it in so long so its way behind in gear and whatnot

in the free trial i can see its very easy to level up, i got to level 5 1/2 in less than 2 hrs.

the pvp in world of warcraft is horrible, way better pvp in warhammer: online.

just like when i played runescape 4 years ago, i never did pvp cause of loss of items. is it the same in WoW?

You shouldn't be negative about a game unless you have played it. :]

Now that that is out of the way I have played wow since 3 months after release. I wouldn't recommend playing WoW NOW, but before any expansions were released it was a great game.

Now you have to buy the original game, BC expansion, and Wrath of the Lich King.

And it isn't even worth it!!!!

check that game out, closed beta is starting soon but its already an amazing game.

There isn't much I can tell you about it, since beta testers are under a Non Disclosure Agreement.

Take a look at it and see if you're interested though :]

imo its not really worth it and its a complete waste of time...b/c it gradually gets repetitive and boring after a while...but thats just my opinion :)

first off- its worth it.

also, the first levels are very quick, it takes longer as you progress...eventually it takes about a couple hours to levell of just casual play, and later levels take several hours. getting from 70-80 can take about 3-6-10 hours to level...iirc.

its easy to get absorbed in it, they have had it for years, and have worked out most the kinks in it. you dont lose items by dying, just have to go from the graveyard to your body.

i played it for a while, it was the reason i left here way back when and i just quit recently. if you have a social life or family, you should limit what you do on it- i was running wiht groups of people which make it hard to pause if i need to make a bottle or change a diaper. you can get to 80 without grouping, but the best gear requires groups. they made it time-friendly, so most decent groups can clear most places in 30-60 minutes, but depends.

it is fun, it is addicting, and right now i dont miss it, but if i do join again, it will be a very limited basis.

also- you dont get xp while away, you build "rest xp". rest xp gives you 2x xp from killing things until you burn it up.

fyi- cake is a lie.

WoW was fun back in the day. Not to say it's not fun anymore but it's not the same. Eventually it gets boring, but what doesn't? The thing is you really won't have anything to do until you're 80. No reason to run through dungeons for equipment you're going to quickly replace. They've lowered the amount of xp it takes to get to 70 and increased the amount given by quests. But MMOs are a great place to meet new people and do things with them aside from murdering their face with a sniper rifle or a knife... unless you make a rogue... but then I'll hate you because of my defenseless mage.

If you're worried about $15 a month, look at it this way. A gamer, like me, goes through a $40-60 game in no time at all. Even things like Fallout 3, Oblivion, Final Fantasy, and the entire Orange Box was done within less than a week (separately obviously). So $15 for a month of gaming in which you won't run out of things to do for a LONG time isn't bad. Also you don't have to buy a $40-60 expansion all the time. You people know who you are and what I'm talkin about ( -.-)

It was fun in the beginning- traveled the world, seen new places, killed new monsters, ect... However, once I hit level 60 I was board... you start to do the same things over and over and over... to the point where you just say "why am I doing this?" Then, I quit.

I played WoW since alpha, and can honestly say it's not worth it anymore. WOTLK pretty much killed it, way to easy and really not much to work for anymore. The pvp is pretty much all instanced and dosen't require much skill if you can just run the good combos and our gear everyone. Pre-bc was the golden age, it owned BC- was alright WOTLK just ruined it for me.

which mmo's do you reccomend then, i trialed guild wars and got bored in 2 mins. in dont like space stuff like eve

WoW is kind of going downhill at the moment...
Used to love playing it during vanilla & BC days, now it just plain sucks.
Quit playing about a year ago when I got fed up with doing the same crap again and again and again and again.
You might want to look at some of the other MMOs out there, Aion looks pretty cool imo.

I'd recommend atm to just find something to pass the time until SW:TOR, but without even so much as a hint at a release date it may be a while. Actually... their hint was "less than a decade."

Edit: Final Fantasy XIV was announced at E3 for 2010. May wanna check that out when it comes.
