is WoW really worth it?

Sifi mmo shooter with developers who actually care about the game!

...hmm...that looks kinda cool. I think I might try it.

Is WoW really worth it?

Ehh....I guess it's a matter of opinion. I played the demo and found it repetitive and boring after a while. Also, since there are 2 (or is it 3?) expansion packs out, you pretty much HAVE to buy those as well as the original game, and then you have to pay $15 a month...So it can get REALLY expensive.

I wouldn't recommend playing WoW at all. It might just ruin your social life if a game like Maplestory got you that addicted. And anyways, I played it for a while and it wasn't that fun. I actually fell asleep playing it a couple times.

WoW will blow your mind ONLY if you can get into it. If you play it and only think its alright, stop playing, you will get bored and become inactive after a month and waste money until you cancel it. try for a while and if its not your style, dump it.

Personally i didnt like WoW
i played it for like a week and found it fun. Untill it was just quest after quest after quest.
I've trie multiple times and did not like it

I play MS still and i just couldn't get arround the whole "QUEST not grind' aspect of the game for me.

But lots of people like it! maby you'll like it

why not try age of conan? Ive been hearing good things about it now. When they first released it, it was crappy but then they released updates to fix it. Ive read its doing quite well now it just needs more players.

Also, warhammer online is about to get a huge free update with a new area to play in so you might want to check that out. Ive read its pvp is really good!

Keep in mind fellas, that WoW is a community based game. You can play the game on your own, but it is infintely better in a group. i.e. find a guild. Ive been in the same guild for coming on 5 years now. And I can say for a fact, that I do not play WoW anymore for the game itself. I play to play with my friends. Thats the main point is it not. Thats what eGO is!

Also, for those of you saying that the game is repetitive, yer all on crack :P There is so much to do in the game its not even funny. Or would you rather join a server, pick a class and shoot at people on the same map for hours - how is that not repetitive? (i dont mean that negatively, just a perspective)

All in all, the game is about the people for me, the game is solid even if you dont care to admit it. The franchise, the abunance of content, daily quest, achievements, proffessions, PVP, PVE, old world content. Find a good guild and the game is 120% worth it.

I had been with the same guild since pre-bc, got grand marshal and cleared all the way through naxx. Went up through sunwell in BC and got 2k arena ratings. That all took a lot of time and actually felt like I accomplished something. Yes, it does get very repetetive because you end up doing the same instances over and over and over. Basically you are just farming for gear to go farm for some more gear.

Then WOTLK came out and we cleared naxx 25 in about 2 weeks and I just sat there being bored because people could get the same gear in Archavon and it really dosen't matter anymore, everyone has the gear. PVP is pretty much broken, you just run with the combo of the month with the right gear and you are almost unstoppable (cough pally/dk). Atleast in the other games the content wouldn't have been blown through in a matter of weeks. Other than raiding all you have left to do is go farm gold, farm the same daily quests, farm achievements, farm battlegrounds, or do arena. Maybe if you are a casual player it will be strung out longer because you have to farm heroics and things for your gear first, but eventually you will understand how repetetive the game is and that it's no longer fun. World PVP is non-existant. Starting to feel more like a interactive chatroom than an MMO.

Wow is worth it imo
You get a great game... and an awesome IM system!

As an ex-GM, I feel like I can defend the game from all this bashing.

Blizzard Activision has started making WoW easier for new people to jump in the game and level and catch up to the people who play it as a daily crack habbit. What that means is that the leveling to lvl 70 is easier both in the amount exp given in that time as well as some of the "classic dungeons."

They have also made some of the higher lvl instances a bit easier for some people to access the instances, complete them, and get the gear from them.

If you haven't heard, the next patch for WoW, patch 3.2, contains some major renovations to pvp as well as the ability to gain exp from pvp.

Repetative?? Just as someone else pointed out in this post, all games have a repetitve quality to them. CSS, CoD, TF2, and DoD all have extremely repetative gameplay elements. But WoW has tons of different things you can do so when you get bored doing one thing, you can do another.

That being said, WoW is very worth it.
