New Computer

I plan on getting a new computer sometime in August. I Figured I'd ask you guys if you have any recommendations for a decently priced, well running, portable(i like laptops) system that has at least a 4GB ram and won't lag too much. Playing TF2 with this old chipset I have now has gotten tiring and annoying with all the lag and I'm so amazed it can handle so much with only 1GB of ram.

If you can still find one, a ASUS G50vt. Got mine for $1400 and it has a 2.53 C2D, 9800m GS, 4 gigs of ram and 640gb HDD, with a 15.4in screen. Runs every game I own beautifully and lag free.

The new G51s look nice too.

I don't know much about laptops; however, ASUS should be good, as PimpMyPc said. I got an ASUS tower for about $1300. This thing has 9G RAM, a Core i7 quad core processor and an NVIDIA 260 graphics card (I don't know how much you know about graphics cards, but its better than a 9800). So ASUS will give you a well equipped computer right out of the box.

nvidia 1gb gtx 250

500 gb western digital black HD

seasonic 500 watt PSU

The entire thing is small, cool, efficient, and blazing fast.

I've always been skeptical of laptop gaming, you'll definitely need a decent graphics card, RAM is an easy and cheap upgrade to do on your own...

Slot is usually under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop there's a door.

Getting a good gaming laptop that will play games decent is a hard task, it is going to be a pretty large one and expensive. Most laptops have integrated graphics which is bad. Plus you need a pretty good CPU, since the source engine is CPU intensive.

Built mine with parts off of newegg.com. Newegg.com is a great website for you to purchase parts from at a great price. Built my rig for about $700.00 and it is super fast and runs over 90 fps always. looks great too =]. Hope that helps good luck with your PC

i have both a gaming laptop and a gaming desktop. My desktop i built myself with parts from newegg.com and my laptop is a macbook pro with bootcamp. Mac's are kinda pricey but their customer service is the best around (from my experience). A friend of mine just bought one off of ebay for $1500.
