Rawr's FaN Scout Guide
Lately I've been playing a lot of scout and am loving it and you will too if you follow some guidelines. Just remember getting good with any class takes practice and lots of dieing. Hopefully this'll help out some of you guys who just can't get a handle on it. Just hope I'm not giving too many of my secrets away
P.S. While writing I tried to write it from a general point-of-view, but it turned out to be more of FaN scout guide. I'm working on getting a video up, but it's not as easy as I thought it'd be.
1) The biggest mistake you can make as scout is being too aggressive. As scout you've got lots of firepower, but not much health to waste. As a noobie scout you'll be dieing a lot until you really learn your limits. Knowing when to runaway and get health is the key and it's often a fine line. The closer you are to the health the sooner you should runaway and grab it. Remember: as scout, it's always better to runaway and nab some health then be greedy and try to finish someone off.
2) Force-of-Nature is a great tool and weapon, however it takes some practice to master. With the normal bat, you gain a triple jump and can gain access to some tricky spots and really get the jump on the enemy, or with the baseball you can keep your double jump. Also the speed at which you can unload those two rounds is devestating. Also if you're running away to get health you can keep those pesky pyro's at a distance with a quick one-two. The key is landing both those shots. If you can manage to pop people up in the air and hit em with your second shot, it usually gives you enough time to reload and finish em off. if you've emptied your Force-of-Nature clip, don't just stand out in the open. Hide really quick, reload, and pop back out for another round of fury. If you find yourself struggling to get kills with your Force-of-Nature, you might wanna try switching to your normal shotgun until you master getting close and personal to pop off some shots, the normal shotgun actually packs 10% more power, but for one you don't get the disorienting effect of knocking someone back (which in inexperienced hands can be your downfall) and two your rate of fire isn't nearly as fast. The Force-of-Nature isn't just a godly weapon, it's a great tool of movement.
3) The element of surprise is your greatest tool. You'll really start racking up those kills the more you can second guess your enemy and catch them off guard. One of my favorite tactics is unloading 2-4 shots off of the Force-of-Nature, pretending to runaway, only to come right back and catch your enemy off guard who thought they were safe to go get health after your onslaught.
4) You should really only use the baseball if you're on the defense. For one it takes a lot of practice to really be able to nail people when you need to. For two your double jump is one of the your best tools. I find the best way to use the baseball is to equip your pistol and Force-of-Nature. Give someone the old bonk, switch to pistol, unload as many rounds as you can until you're close enough to finish em off with the Force-of-Nature. If you fail to take them out, switch back to pistol and unload the rest of your bullets as you runaway. It takes some practice to be able to switch your weapons quickly enough, but once you get it's a thing of beauty. With only one ball it's really tricky to be able to use the baseball effectively if you're on the offense. On defense you'll have a much easier time going and picking it back up or running back to your respawn cabinet for another.
5) Stick around your teammates. You're way faster then your teammates so you can take a quick peak and let your friends know about the oncoming onslaught or give em the go ahead when the coast is clear. Also if you hang around your teammates, enemies will see you as much less of a threat, giving you ample opportunity to flank them and unload, netting you at least an assist, and properly done, a sweet kill. Remember use the element of surprise! The closer to the enemy you can get the more damage you do, but that's also when you're most vulnerable. As scout you ride a fine line between win and fail. Only practice will get you win.
6) If you're using the Force-of-Nature and you're in midair, if you fire off a shot it's going to knock you backwards (or in the direction opposite your fire), which can either be a good thing if you're trying to get away, or a bad thing if you're trying to lay down the hurt. Just remember this, only your first shot, once airborne, will have an effect on your velocity. So what I like to do is pop off that first shot to sling myself into tactical position and fire off my second shot for some pain. Having used my first shot to get me in a good position, I have time to reload for another 2 shotgun blasts of glorious victory.
7) When running up on an enemy, don't just run straight at them, they'll predict you and kill you, which is bad. Utilize the awesome power of your double jump to change direction in midair and confuse them. Whenever possible make your enemy think you're going somewhere else, once they give-up on you knowing they'll never be able to catch up, run back and catch em off guard. I can't stress it enough, use your elements of surprise. You have to get close to them to do any real damage, but with the least health of any class, you don't have a lot of time to get in there and get out before getting into some real trouble.
8) Try to stay away from pyro's and soldiers unless you can get a good jump on them. A quick two shot to a pyro's back can take em out, but if he gets you with that flame, you're in trouble. Soldiers are also tricky as they typically take at least 3 shots to take out and that rocket splash damage is nasty. if you find yourself pinned against one, try to juke em out and do try to get some surprise in. A decent soldier with a medic on him is gonna cause you some real trouble. Your best bet is coming up behind the medic and taking him out and leaving the overhealed soldier for someone else to deal with.
That's all I got for now. If you guys like my guide perhaps I'll write some more for other classes. Perhaps I'll even make a video.

And ya that's a good idea, I think I'll put that in a video. I just need someone to help me out. Leave a comment or send me a PM if you wanna help me record a video.
