Video driver crashing and recovering...

Been in the INS div for a while now - no problems at all....

Fall for the hype of neotokyo so I download it and start playing. After the 5th round or so my vid card crashes and I get a message

"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered." :blink:

So I bail on neotokyo and get the same problem when I run INS again. :cursing:

Course it crashes the game and it's a reoccurring problem. Checked out NVIDA forums and it seems to be a finger-pointing contest between Windows and them.

I'm updating to the latest driver for my NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX

While I'm hoping that will resolve it I thought I'd check to see if anyone else has run into this. :blink: It just did it again and I'm not running games.

This has the potential to make my life miserable.

I have it happen sporadically on my 9800GTX.I still haven't found a cure for it. From what I can tell there is no sure fire cure, I've heard everything from PSU problems to it could be RAM problems or the card might be dying. Good luck trying to get this figured out and keep us updated if you do.

have you tried the free version of driver cleaner pro, and then a fresh install of drivers?

this problem is 100 percent caused by outdated graphics drivers. If you have the most recent drivers installed correctly it should not happen.

I'm hoping it's 100% caused by it. I updated the driver to the most current and was able to play INS for an hour last night. I still haven't tried NeoTokyo with the new driver.

Let's assume updating drivers works unless I post here again.

For those who have NVIDIA cards and aren't sure you've got the most up to date driver, they have a 'scan' which will detect your card and tell you your current driver and offer the most recent for download. Check it out here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us

i had this problem playing armaII. they driver would crash leaving me with a black screen but i could still shoot and move. as soon as i alt-tabed i could restart the game and have no problems. i upgraded my video driving to the newest model and i havent encountered the problem again.

I used to get that after i replaced my old card with my new one because my computer said that i was still running the old one and switched to me running on 2 monitors instead of one. Dunno if you fixed it but check your settings to see how many monitors its supporting.
