Bonk! Drink Improvement

As of now, Bonk is pretty useless sadly D: It's a very fun weapon to use, but the pistol trumps it in every way possible. This is an idea that was posted on the Steam/GameFAQs forums and I thought you guys might like to see it.

_____

The Improvised Conc Grenade:
_____

* Allows you to instead use the Bonk! Drink to conc jump.

* While holding M2 with your Bonk! Drink equipped, the scout will begin shaking the can of Bonk! vigorously.

* The can itself will slowly begin increasing in size, looking as if it will explode instantly, buckling under the pressure built up inside, as if were becoming a mini atom bomb (since it's atomic punch and it has isotopes, amirite?).

* Once the can has almost reached it's breaking point, let go of M2 and the scout will toss/roll the over-sized Bonk! Drink.

* Once it explodes, it will create a fizzy soda explosion in the form of a mini mushroom-cloud, knocking you and any enemies nearby a good distance away. If you time it right, you can use the Bonk! Drink to launch you into the air, bypassing various chokepoints at lightning speed!

* Of course you'd be able to air strafe to control your direction while flying; skilled players could navigate through small chokepoints with ease.

* The longer you hold M2, the longer the scout will shake the Bonk!, and the larger the can becomes, the larger the explosion will be.

* It does zero damage to you or your enemies.

* If you shake the can of Bonk! too long, it will explode in your hands, and the blast will drench you with the bonk drink, causing every shot to hit you to become a mini-crit, just like Jarate (it would use the same sprite as Jarate, except it would be red or blue in colour).

What do you think?

I love concs, but I don't want to bring them back. There isn't really a point to them in a non-CTF map. Plus, you don't want CTF maps to end up like this again. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwe4H9qG7qw&feature=fvw[/ame]
How about when you use it you can't take any knockback?

That would be a very cool improvement!

I'd have to agree with you. I never really liked using the Bonk energy drink because I found the pistol to be far superior. But I would love to see Valve implementing this idea into the game (although I sadly doubt they would).

With that said, however, the improvement just might make it far to easy for a Scout to reach the intel on CTF maps. There would have to be a downside that would somewhat lessen the chances this (maybe the recharge time would have to be like the baseball).

I think you'd have to stand still or move very slowly while shaking... not sure on that. Besides they wouldn't be spammable and they wouldn't go very far (only a few feet in front of the Scout)

Still dont see the point of wanting to launch your self into the middle of a ton of enemies. Since you can't spam out. Plus there isn't any bunnyhopping so it really dosen't have the same effect as in tfc.

Cut Chem!st, that wouldn't work. When you drop the intel in TF2 it immedately falls to the ground. You don't throw it like in TFC so you can't give it to your team mate, he would have to be exactly underneath you.

And regarding your idea for Bonk... No. TF2 is shaped differently than TFC. A flying scout wouldn't fit into the game at all. If you want concing I would suggest to play Fortress Forever.
It wouldn't help the Scout much anyway. The Scout already has the double/triple jump, which is enough. Valve introduced the Bonk drink because the Scout needed something to get through a chokepoint. Conc jumping wouldn't help much with that, would it?

I figure it's so you can move through choke points and span open areas far more quickly helping out the Scout's squishyness. Plus I would love to see this in the hands of a really effective scout and see the damage it can do. I would use it in a heart beat.

But you could use it to launch yourself past enemies, or use it as a Scout version of rocket jumping or sticky-bomb launching.

No, just no. It's a nice idea, but it would make the scout even more overpowered in the hand of a good scout. A good scout would use this, in combo with his double jump, and the FaN, to go incredible distances. This would allow them to wreak unimaginable destruction before escaping using the primary bonk power. It would be too overpowered.

The thing is, truly pro scouts would never give up the pistol. But this would be a really fun thing for people to use that have never really given the Scout a chance. And I'm almost positive that it wouldn't allow you to double jump in mid air O_O

As I said, I think it would be balanced if they made you move slowly or completely stand still while shaking it. Because as of now, Bonk! is very, very, very situational. As in the only time it's useful is when your team doesn't have a Medic and you have a competent Demoman and you need to to destroy a sentry.

Well you could use it for conc jumping but that is just one of it's uses. Remember the other use is to blast away your enemy and to put some distance in between both of you. This could be a very useful "reset" button in which it removes all positions of the current battle and causes a new random environment! I would definitely use the bonk if this was implemented.

I mean like... once you're in mid air, you can no longer jump. You could still FaN jump, but most good scouts don't use the FaN anyway. You can air-strafe which is nice. I'd love to give this a go and make some jump maps for it.

The true question is can the bonk push back ubered targets? Or will the scout have to blow away the medic ahead of time. Still it is a great idea. And besides this isn't like the scout I find it very impratical in battle to take out a bonk for another jump. It would mean giving up seconds in time for something you could normally do.

Then you'd have another unlockable weapon that denies the Scout his most important feature next to his speed. Why would you choose the Bat if you can't combine it with the Bonk then anyway? Somehow I would rather use the Sandman then.
And also, you can already strafe mid air with any class. No need to say it's another bonus of the "new" Bonk.
