I just upgraded my laptop to an intel core 2 duo t7400 2.16gHz and now im starting to lag terribly ingame and then occasionally just lose connection all together. I am very confused

uh, what were you upgrading from? Did you install the CPU or did you have someone else (a professional?) install it for you?

did it my self but its only affecting valve games rest FO3 E total war wow they all work fine

Uh is it your internet lagging or FPS lag? If its your internet I'd check to make sure all your plugs are in correctly.

im on wireless and this is the first time its happening used to be fine my ping is fine. What really befuddels me is why it crashes my internet

well it could be that when you were installing your CPU that you may have un-plugged/loosened something.

I'm going to need some more information on this issue. When in game type net_graph 3 and tell me what your FPS is at. And also what your ping is at.

And define crashing your internet.

my internet goes away i have to exit dods then my aim, xfire, steam and itunes all disconnect then after a min or so all reconnect

try resetting your bios since you have a new CPU

Is your lag fps lag or internet connection lag? If its internet lag, maybe you disconnected/moved your laptops internal antenna.

also, if youre having so many programs running at once, (aim, itunes, xfire, etc.) Its gonna be harder for your comp to run it all AND dods.

Try Setting the Bios to default reboot go back see if prcoessor it at corrct Speed and FSB.


And watch your temps might be geting a little hot that be cause for hardware failure.wireless ect.....

I cant explain anything except for that:

Wireless+Laptop+Multiple Applications+Gaming /=/ Good

If you want to lose the lag and in game horror, your going to need to lose the wireless. Wireless systems can be finiky and tend to drop out. Try plugging straight up to the router, and make sure your BIOS can actually handle the processor you put in it.

In my experience, I stay away from "Upgrading" laptops because they typically cant handle the newer processors.

What did you have in it previously?

Remember when you Upgrade, that you are going to Tax system resources by adding yet another bottleneck.

If you upgrade your CPU, your gonna need to upgrade your RAM, and your Graphics.. etc, otherwise you will not notice the performance increase from the processor. But heres the big part. Oftentimes, the Motherboard is the BIGGEST bottleneck.

In order for us to really help you out.. your gonna need to post your old setup, along with your new setup. Find your motherboard information along with the Northbridge Identification and know all your bus speeds and whatnot.

Without any information, We cant research into your problem.

Also, did you research what your board could handle before you put this new proc in?

so i tried it with nothing running my fsb is all running fine and dandy this only happens with steam games

yeah i would take KillZones advice and maybe you have a firewall blocking most of the internet to your source games

I'd have to agree with this. Check your firewall settings. Both on your computer and Router

Check all connections. That is 90% of problems right there, loose connections.
