Service Alert - High Pings

Service Alert - High Pings
For only select clients

SoftLayer Technologies (our main provider) is currently routing select users on a temporary path while fiber maintenance is completed.

The people that are effected will see high pings. Nothing is wrong with the servers and will be resolved shortly.

As quoted from Softlayer:

"Customer Impact: During this maintenance window traffic on the back end/private network between Dallas and SEA will be temporarily routed over a backup tunnel -- no service interruption is expected."

ah good. I am one of those suffering from the sudden high pings and it was driving me crazy

Me too ..
And shortly? That's garbage. It's been going on literally all day for me up here in the great white north..

Good to know, I thought I was losing my internet again! Payload Rotation was scary bad with lag earlier today

Good to know, I was just warping and getting pingjumps and it was mighty annoying.

I'll post/email my 24hr ping stats, also interestingly 160ping isn't that bad to play with; little to no stutters but sniping can feel like shooting at a ghost at times. Big thanks to Kendle for the post and getting Softlayer's word on this issue. I'm pretty confident this will get solved within the week.

my ping was about 400 yesterday and this morning but since then its fine :) actually a little better makes me happy, lol

For my 24hrs test:

1pm-3pm 85ms Ping (July 20)
3pm-7pm 250ms Ping
7pm-9pm 190ms Ping
9pm-11pm 160ms Ping
11pm-12am 140ms Ping (July 21)
12am-5am 115ms Ping
6am-10am 100ms Ping
11am-1pm 75ms Ping

*testing on in game ping not just a trace almost every hour; Hours between 3am-8am are estimates between 9am's ping and 2am's ping.

Everything is good as quoted from theman Director of Engineering -- SoftLayer Technologies, Inc.

First off I'd like to apologize for the last few days of higher than normal latency.

To clarify what happened, SoftLayer Technologies maintains private 10G circuits between all of its datacenters. Over the weekend (Saturday), our 10G between WDC and Dallas took a fiber cut. While that service was restored around midnight/Sunday morning, there was considerable issues with the circuit. We continued to work with our provider during these to correct them; however, customers began to notice large amounts of packetloss on that circuit. This is when we routed traffic to/from Seattle to reach either WDC or Dallas. We finally restored normal service to that circuit yesterday at Monday morning. This lasted all of 3 hours when the circuit was again cut by crews working the Ashburn, VA area. We again routed around the circuit through Seattle. We finally restored normal service around 9:00 AM CDT on Tuesday.

At this point you should have no issues with connectivity from WDC to Dallas within our network. If you are having issues, I'd be more than happy to take a look at them and work on resolving them.

Thanks.

I really hope it fixes my lag... then I wont be killed that much because of me not shooting well :chair:
