always had a doubt on that..and does it affect ur skill level???
pl don laugh when i say that i play with 300+ ping :)
i really don know y its that high.I have a 5mbps connection is it good enough??

Hey KURDT,

Your ping is so high because the distance from your pc to the server (based in Texas) is large. That hasn't got much to do with your internet-connection, but you will know that how slower your internet-connection is how higher your ping will be.

I can say that it affected my skill-level. Before i was in this clan i was in one from the UK, my ping was low and i got used to playing like that, so i needed to addapt to the high ping i have on the eGO servers. But when you play alot on our servers you will addapt also.

Yeah, you're in India. So a server in Texas is going to take a bit more time to relay data between you and the box. So I wouldn't expect the 300 ping to get any better.

In terms of it effecting the server as a whole - no, I don't believe it will. But it will make you warp all over the place and that can't be fun for anyone.

thats why we gotta move the server location so it isnt anywhere near bigbird and his dang springfield!

To answer your question NO your high ping doesnt cause server lag. Each player in the server gets a certain amount of bandwith. The only effect we will see your your ping is WAY up there is you might be a little flashy(you appera and disappear to us
). We have a high ping kicker of 450 after 30 seconds.

btw whats the ping limit?

450

And I have high ping 200 in American Servers, about 15 in European ones.

And I can't play in European ones xD

some one told me that its 20-50 ms per 500 miles is that true?

It is hard to answer that question because you have to remember a few things. Ping will be dependant on the distance of wire needed to connect two PC's. But it is also dependant on the speed of the devices connecting them. For example, Your pc is connected to your home router, connected to your cable modem, to the server at your ISP, to the CMTS on their network, to their gateway / router, to the provider of your ISP, to the provider of the server computer, their network router, etc etc etc untill you get to the host machine.
open your command prompt and type in "tracert www.edgegamers.us" (or any website, or even the ip for our servers" - This will tell you how long each step takes and how mnay steps there are between you and your destination.
