Alright, if anyone has any last thoughts let me know, this is only me second build. I'm about to start ordering all my parts and pieces. should be good. I'm deffinetly trying to keep this under $1000. And i'm sticking with Intel and ATI, Personal Preff.

I'd recommend the Antec Nine Hundred Two. Looks much better. I have the first Antec Nine Hundred and I wish I got the second one. :P
 
I'd recommend an e8400 over that processor, seeing as it has better stepping technology and double the cache:

Also, Corsair power supplies are excellent, been using a 650tx on my Core 2 Quad build, runs like a dream:

And I agree with Jv on the 4870, but I think the 1GB version will give you a greater bang for your buck:

Great build there, I'd recommend getting a E8400 if you can.
I'd change the CPU cooler, look at a Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer. One of the best coolers on the market because the heatpipes touch the CPU directly which makes a huge difference.

And I'd definitely recommend to get a better GPU if your going to play games at 1920 x 1080, HD 4870 1 GB I would recommend.

And your PSU is great, depends if you plan to CrossFire later on.

vader you tried to convince me and others that our cpu coolers were horrible while the sunbeam was superior, yet you had no evidence except for poorly written reviews not even comparing all the popular coolers on the market.

Provide us with some real evidence. The cooler guy picked out is a great one.

Scythe is a good company, love their fans. For a Core 2 Duo, heatsink/fan combo doesn't matter much, even with overclocking. I think that Scythe could do a 4 Ghz OC on the e8400 just fine.
 
Thank you everyone for your input, I've decided on jumping the CPU to the E8400 instead of the E7600, and for the video card, I'll keep the 4850, I dont play enough hardcore games to necessitate the 4870, and soon after building I plan on running 2 4850s. I can't wait, 2 months togo and i'll be up and ready.
 
Your case is fine but im letting you know that the antec 900 is a bit small.

For your processor please go for a quad core now. There really is no reason to go duo core anymore. If your afraid of the Ghz speed just overclock, i OC my Q6600 to 3.7 from 2.4 with a very similar cooler to the one ur buying.

I recommend you get a better graphics card. I have the 4850 and it only does fine on 1680x1050 res and still its not amazing at it but im a bit picky. I recommend the 4890 which i found for 170 on newegg, amazing price or u could CF the 4850 ur choice.......I personally would wait for the 5 series cards but if u need it now then get the 4890 is my recommendation.

Crossfire this for only 160 bucks and it has a better heatsink for overclockability :thumbup:

Your powersupply unit is way overpriced. I know that corsair is a great brand but 750w does not justify that 170 price tag. I just bought a 1000w Tuniq for only 90!!!!! and ITS GREATTT AND MORE THAN ENOUGH...if u get it quick u can still catch to rebate bringing it to 90.

These are all my recommendations, PM me for questions. I think that getting the i7 will probably be the same amount with your current build if u add up the prices. Hopefully u have a Microcenter near u or else go for a Core 2 quad with ur current MOBO setup and ram. But maybe even the i7 920 on newegg at 280 will end up making ur whole build around the same price since the PSU i recommended is cheaper as well as ram but i doubt it.

Hope this somewhat helps, its a bit messy so PM for clarifications and such.
 
lol, Well I already bought the 900, but it's most likely going to by slightly moded so it'll look better when its finished. i'm painting the inside, adding new feet, changing the fans, and flipping the PSU.
 
Yea, i'm swapping out the fans for some red LED Rosewill fans, deeper red then the antec fans, adding red led feet, painting the inside black to match the outside, and adding cutouts to the MOBO tray for cable management. IF i ever get all this stuff bought and built, i'll probably post pics in this thread.

Yeah, C2Q is a little out of your price-range and the price vs. performance is far greater on the E8400 than the Q9650. Also, if you're planning on doing any overclocking, the E8400 with E0 stepping is a great processor.
