Hardest Game Ever!!!!

I remember playin through Half-Life when I was about 14. I dunno, FPS games have just came easy to me. "If it's not on hard, what's the point?" has kinda become a motto between my cousin and me.
 
HL1 FTW. I can fly through that game fairly easily, you just need to know all the shortcuts.
 
ARMA is pretty hard to get the hang of at first, but only because it's a true military combat simulator and not a "rambo style" shooter. As far as hardest games ever goes, anything that was made on the original NES was god-awful hard usually (8-bit rage-quit ftw).

Ghosts N' Goblins and the Contra series come to mind in that department.
 
I own Ikaruga...it's VERY hard. Way harder than HL1. Try getting highest rank on all levels on hard. My brother can do that. I don't like top down shooters that much.

And about that 30 min video...that's a lot more things fixed in HLS than I thought.
 
Play the Megaman games. They'll make you wanna destroy your NES/SNES/Emulator and then proceed to jump off of a high place while drinking bleach out of a razorblade covered glass.

I love those games, and i'm still good at them, but nothing like I was when I was about 10 years old. Old games will always be more difficult than newer games.
 
I know its not a computer game but halo 3 destroyed me on legendary, by your self if the most annoying thing ever, i broke my controller in two peices playing that...but ninja gaiden was impossible, i must buy it and try to finish it lol
 
thats the hardest game ever? obviously you've never played the original CONTRA for the NES :)

Yeah, its a tie between megaman and castlevania for me... I think castlevania had more annoying monsters though.

Really hard...I didn't play it for NES, but the Castlevania+Contra collection on the PC...also Super C on the 360 Arcade. Harder than any game I know.
 
I must say, Ive heard a lot about ninja gaiden being EPICLY HARD. Also, i saw a youtube vid called "awesome gaiden" (i would have posted/linked it, but it has intense language so watch it at your own discretion!!!) that pretty much summed that game up. But since ive never played it, I cant really judge it.

this does not factor in time / deaths where i could not progress to the next save point before giving up. Factor that in the deaths are about 2k for me and time 12 hrs

But this is only on IWBTG's second hardest difficulty.
 
Here's a game that's unforgiving in difficulty, Syphon filter for the original Playstation. Even on the normal setting it is inhumanly difficult for most players.

Also, I like to point out Far Cry on Normal. I have had a lot of trouble with that game, and near the end, it just becomes extremely hard for me to play well.

But yes, Half-Life is a hard game, but hey the older games where harder than the ones today. What where you going to expect, AI that's as good as COD4's? Yeah, I think you learned your lesson.

Oh Ninja Gaiden? Geez, that's a VERY hard game.

Wait... MIKE TYSON'S PUNCH OUT for the NES. After 55 failed trys, I stop playing, and go to my room crying. Yeah, never did beat Tyson. He'd look at you funny then he'd kill you instantly. So, that's practicly impossible, but only a couple of people I know can do it, but that's only because they have no lives.
